    Re: Chamonix Whole Plate Camera!

    See this:

Even when shooting digital, I find my most pleasing inkjet prints are "whole plate" image...

Re: Mat Size vs. Mount Size

There have been many mounting variations over time. The earliest ones I bought around 40 years ago were dry mounted to heavy paper. My most recent one came mounted on 14x17 4-ply board and had a...

    Re: Smoke smoke everywhere

Down here it's been something like that, with slight variations from dark yellow to medium orange, for quite a few days. We're many tens of miles from the nearest fires, but wind has been light and...

Re: Is Oriental Seagull paper gone too?

+1. I laid in a supply of ADOX MCC 110 soon after its production was "paused" at the beginning of this year. Still shinier than I'd like, but at least tolerable.

    Between paper and how Ilford...
  5. Re: Rodenstock Apo Sironar N or Apo Sironar S 150mm f/5.6

Staying on the explicit topic of this thread, I own a 150mm Apo Sironar N, but not a 150mm Apo Sironar S, so can't provide any personal experience. However, five years ago there was discussion about...
  6. Re: Rodenstock Apo Sironar N or Apo Sironar S 150mm f/5.6

Not a valid comparison. Rodenstock provided MTF graphs for the N and W at magnification 1:20. For the S, at 1:10.

Re: So long. Been less than great.

I'd never agree to be a moderator here or at any other forum. Having served on boards of directors for various organizations in the past, I know what "dealing with the public" is like.

    However, I...

Re: So long. Been less than great.

That's at PHOTRIO. Apparently not here, since I reported the OP two minutes after it went up with the suggestion that his whining "grand exit" post be deleted. Since Oren let it stand, I suppose he...
  9. Re: Justify the acquiring of a new Linhof Technika?

It's important to read all the words in a post. Specifically, the word "new." A half dozen used Linhof cameras are not a half dozen Linhof cameras purchased today at new prices. Or a half dozen...
  10. Re: Justify the acquiring of a new Linhof Technika?

OK, then, both bases covered in one thread. :)
  11. Re: Justify the acquiring of a new Linhof Technika?

It's entertaining to watch what happened after Hiromi retired and those who couldn't afford new Ebony cameras were "forced" over to complaining about Linhof. :)
  12. Re: Luland Produced Super Large Format Camera 3D panorama Tripod Head

No, I was at least smart enough to avoid purchasing automobiles with reputations for unreliability. Benz lore said it was the Energizer Bunny of cars. While my teenage contemporaries dreamed of...
  13. Re: Luland Produced Super Large Format Camera 3D panorama Tripod Head

Not any more. I bought one brand new in 1985. It was the least reliable vehicle I've ever owned. Now I drive a 2003 Honda Accord. It's the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. :)
  14. Re: Luland Produced Super Large Format Camera 3D panorama Tripod Head

I certainly would. And do. :)

    Re: Light weight 810 system

  18. Re: Is the obsession with analogue gearing an obstacle to art?

At which manufacturer are you employed as a film and chemical engineer? Kodak? Ilford? Fuji? Adox? Foma?
  19. Re: Is the obsession with analogue gearing an obstacle to art?

Ignoring for the moment that "artistic" reference (meaningless word), this is completely unsupportable. Photography might very well be the best route to expressing the OP's vision. Digital,...
  20. Re: Fold-out viewing hoods for Horseman monorail.

  21. Re: Is the obsession with analogue gearing an obstacle to art?

Let's (once again) straighten out some things:

"Art" is a meaningless word. Since it can be whatever anyone believes it is, it is anything. And it's nothing.

    The word "photography"...

Re: Question about JOBO expert drums

Doing that has, in my experience, absolutely no positive effect on the newer Jobo Drying Rod synthetic sponges. They're utterly useless regardless.

It varies greatly depending on ambient relative humidity. Here in coastal southern California, typically at least 12 hours, although a hot offshore wind (Santa Ana) can shorten that to a couple of...
  26. Re: Which State is the Best State for Landscape Photographers to Live?

Apology? Tardy? Many don't ever reply to posts; two days is nothing. Please don't apologize.

They/you are not. Had you commented on which of the 50 U.S. states the OP was inquiring about, I'd...
  27. Re: Which State is the Best State for Landscape Photographers to Live?

Tony, I understand those outside the U.S. might view this country unfavorably. I'm not here to argue that they're unjustified in their perspective, and probably agree with most of them. However,...

  35. Re: The New Marketplace Rules are Too Restrictive

    A very perceptive comment. :)

Not true. First, there is no Soap Box at this forum. Second, the owner of the forum that does have a Soap Box spends virtually no time moderating it. That relief...
