Re: My New Tripod: Gitzo vs Leica Surveyor vs Ries

Have Gitzo (CF and aluminum), Ries (A and J), Manfrotto and Benro.

I would go with the Ries because of the one feature that very few others have - leg spread. I can't emphasize enough the utility...

Re: Banff and Jasper in mid Sept. 2022

don't think it's TIW, the view outside the window is not crowded downtown Toronto with condos and buildings all around. It's on the second floor as well so definitely not looking like it. fwiw, they...

    Re: Palldium or Platinum ?

The 7x17 film I'm exposing is expired, and would need to check the date. Other developers I use are HC-110 and Rodinal, the latter of which really doesn't help with expired films. Wonder if one can...

    Re: Palldium or Platinum ?

    thanks Peter,

chatted with Bostick and they said Na2 has to be used with Pd as I asked if Na2 could be mixed with Ferric Oxalate and then coat but that's a no go.

interesting about the exposure times. Some of my 8x10 and 7x17 negatives, developed in Pyrocat HD Glycol have had me cooling my jets for about 30 minutes or so, sometimes longer. The...

haha, I was looking at this as well. What's the advantage over trad Pd or Pt ? I understand the Na2 can be more cost effective as one doesn't need very many drops.

Re: First exposure with Frankenstein 200

I've been happy using HC-110 or Rodinal with 320TXP in sheets or rolls. I've been using Pyrocat HD more and more lately so worth looking into that perhaps ?
