    Re: Still Life 2020

Making progress with my Van Dyke prints, a still life I took too many decades ago with my Crown Graphic. Still need to tweak the curves to get what I want but this is presentable.

Test the bulb with a meter, though you should be able to see the inside of the bulb blackened or a gap in the filament.
  4. Re: Help me choose a camera to hike 2000+ miles

I would think along the lines of this if it were fully mechanical and find a Weston or similar selenium cell meter so the need for batteries is nonexistent. The 645 format gives you 15 shots on a...
  5. Re: Help me choose a camera to hike 2000+ miles

For a long hike I know weight is important. Seems to me a good folding medium format camera and a brick of film would be perfect. Ive seen the older ones that fold flat enough to slip into your coat...

Ultrachrome inks are pretty hardy, one of the reasons for its development is fade resistance. You might ask Epson for an opinion on the subject.

Watch getting into situations where you damage the plants, such as tearing the leaves and vines or digging the roots. That how my immunity went away, a large enough dose of urishiol will do you in.

  17. Re: Iron ring on brass lens - possible to get off?

  18. Re: Iron ring on brass lens - possible to get off?

If it is pressfit simply getting the ring hot and putting ice to the brass inside would allow the ring to slip off.
  19. Re: How do you remove silver nitrate stains?

Did you use the hypo before or after the bleach? The bleach can leave a residue that will darken again, the hypo should get rid of that after you bleach. If you remember, C41 process has bleach then...

    Re: colour version of Rubylith

Amberlith with cut the blue and uv light pretty good, it was used to hand cut overlays for lithographic platemaking same as the rubylith which will also cut the green light well.
  21. Re: Iron ring on brass lens - possible to get off?

Looks more like some kind of epoxy. That would take a very light touch with a dremel or a grinding burr to split the iron ring to allow removal. I doubt the glass would have tolerated soldering...

    Re: Misadventures in Jobo-land

Possibly the easiest step is to put the negs in a tray of hypo clear after fixing to allow the backside to clean up. Then do your wash in the tray.
  25. Re: How do you remove silver nitrate stains?

There was a product called developer system cleaner that was basically dichromate bleach. Stands to reason if you have any C41 bleach handy you can try that then scrub it with fixer and rinse.

    Re: Misadventures in Jobo-land

Hypo clearing agent is pretty good at removing antihalation dyes too. Since its sulfite your developer probably has that in it too as an antioxidant, halide solvent and/or alkali component.

    Re: Interested in 4 x 5

You can start with a fairly cheap crown graphic or an older foldup. I would think seriously about processing your own film and contact printing( if b&w) so you can keep your costs down.

Re: New light box from Home Depot

I dont think there would be much in the way of uv from a white LED. I think the UV LEDs would be a bit too expensive to use for cheap light panels. Somebody out there may have more info.
