Good question. I received it as a gift from someone that has a whole collection of them. Looks like a 010 with a Xenar.

Re: How to start working on a shutter?

Thanks for the ideas. I'll look at the Compur-rapid shutter videos, there is a Retina involved so that is handy as a start. It works but is sluggish. Just must find a way to store those youtube...

How to start working on a shutter?

I have here a couple of shutters (Compur, Synchro-Compur, Ilex, Prontor...) that have various problems. Some are blocked, some have the slow times that stutter, some don't stay cocked and other...

Re: Iron ring on brass lens - possible to get off?

The problem is not working to exact standards, the problem is that you are effectively working blind. Like If the brass is not round because it had a bang before the iron ring went on. Or if it has...
  7. Re: tri-color photography with oneshot camera: exposure?

The original filters are indeed marked 47, not 47b. As it is a one-shot, I can not give blue more exposure than the others unless I start adding ND filters in the red and green path.

    Ok, let's...

Re: Iron ring on brass lens - possible to get off?

Isn't that a bit dangerous? You have no idea of the form of the brass underneath the iron ring.

Re: Iron ring on brass lens - possible to get off?

In model engineering, they use a saturated solution of alum to remove iron/steel broken taps and screws from brass. But in that case you need to be sure there is no other "iron" part other than what...

    Re: Human sized camera

Ok, perhaps a silly idea, but if you want it totally "green" have you thought of photosensitive organisms? There has been research around that years ago. I read about this when reading about the...
  11. Re: tri-color photography with oneshot camera: exposure?

Only issue is that 6.5x9 isn't 2.25x3.25 so I would need 2 different sizes of film right now. It will have to wait until I can get 3 identical 6.5x9 film holders. Cutting film in the dark is one...
  12. Re: tri-color photography with oneshot camera: exposure?

I was thinking on just using the original filters just in order to know everything more or less works. If that is the case I would replace them by LEE color separation filters as they are damaged. No...
  13. tri-color photography with oneshot camera: exposure?

So I now have 2 oneshot tricolor cameras. And I really would like to use them (at least once to prove it can be done). So I'd like to get a sensible idea about exposure for this.

    The camera splits...
  14. Re: Idea pitch: Electrochromic glass shutter, would it be possible?

What about a moving/rotating mirror? It would require rethinking of the camera and way of composing. Like the rotating mirrors used for scanning labels or the line scanning "helical" in the beginning...
  15. Re: Idea pitch: Electrochromic glass shutter, would it be possible?

I think it would be far more easier and faster to get an electronically controlled curtain shutter set up and working. Or one scale up one of those DSLR shutters. With film on a normal day and 4x5...
  16. Re: Idea pitch: Electrochromic glass shutter, would it be possible?

A Kerr Cell? A blank tft screen? But all are based on polarisation so light loss is at least 50%.

On the other hand as film is so slow I don't need fast speed shutters but very long time shutters.
  17. Re: My mind is blown by recessed board difficulties, any suggestions?

Got a 75mm on a flat board with my Wista and it is not easy to use. Mostly because the standrad bellow is in the way. But far easier to use than the SA 90 on a recessed board...

    Re: 4x5 Starter Lens

While I can see your point, I cannot say this is what happened to me. I preferred the 35mm in 135 format and with 4x5 I go even wider. I cannot see what "separating the film plane from the lens...

    Re: Interested in 4 x 5

Depends on use and taste I suppose. While the 105mm on my Fuji G617 is "a bit" longer than 90mm I don't find it too wide. But then I love wide angles.

    Re: 4x5 Starter Lens

Like you my most used lens on 135 film is the 35mm. So I feel most at home with a 125mm on 4x5. This lens always comes out with me. I choose a Fujinon CM-W 125/5.6. Can't say it was that expensive.

Re: Hole Saw For Commercial Ektar Lens

While I agree with most said, I would never put a thin, flat piece like a lens board in a vise. A vise clamps 2 sides and will bow the board. I'd use a piece of new MDF under it (these are more than...
  25. Re: "contamination" between b/w and C41 chemistry?

But if I can keep the stabiliser in a separate container it will save time cleaning and washing up. Which...
  26. "contamination" between b/w and C41 chemistry?

  35. Re: Has anyone here done three-color photography on B/W with a Speed Graphic or simil

  38. Re: (Micro-Mark Mega Mini R8) Milling machine for fabricating parts... advice needed.

From my experience as live steam builder, plan that you will need as much money for accessories as the price of the machine. Stuff like clamps, milling vices, parallels, collets etc.
