I prefer the 2nd image... it is more calm and relaxing to me with the sunshine, water and clouds. The first appears more dark (in the foreground plants) and stormy (waves and clouds).
Great to see this - thank you for your work and sharing! A Graflex with curtain shutter would be awesome...
I noticed that Freestyle Photographic has the new Stearman Press SP-810 daylight film processing tray.
The feature list is quite impressive, especially the film format flexibility and economy of...
Just skimmed through the thread, but did not see mention of the old military container darkrooms, only 12 ft x 7 ft.
( ES-82A Darkroom, Photographic, Transportable )
e.g....
There is now also another alternative 3D printed reel system for 4x5 and 8x10 film development in Paterson tanks, from Jeff at 20th Century Camera in WA, USA. I have not tried it yet but am...
I will admit that I too share this desire to make great LF portraits for others, even portable and on the street near a famous tourist attraction. Finding a good economical way to do it though is a...
Beautiful work Ken! I was just in Asia recently and admired very large wall panel panorama paintings like this!
Great work Cameron! This is wonderfully done - very impressive. Getting a classic soft overhead light through diffusion like that is exactly how all the old photography studios did it!
In a...
It looks like the app is no longer in the app store unfortunately, or maybe my iTunes and Apple Store apps are broken.
I sent an email to Bruce today and got feedback from him (note that "This table was originally compiled by Michael Gudzinowicz (ab366@osfn.rhilinet.gov)." -- email address no longer valid), please...
Here is the link: Phochron XA Film Camera Shutter Speed Tester and Official Phochron XA website
(perhaps an easier to remember and pronounce name could have been chosen?)
It has reached it's...
It looks really easy to use, I backed it also. I have also used the Shutter-Speed app for my iPhone, developed by Lukas Fritz in Germany, which uses sound or light (using a light sensing diode called...
In the archives (Repairs for 8x10 Deardorff), I just found out this is probably a "split rivet" - so I will look for those in hardware stores.
On my Deardorff 8x10, the front standard folding plate has half of it's rivets (or nails?) popped out on the hinge. I'm wondering if there is an official way to fix this to it's original condition,...
Do did you give up on the Dichro 45 computerized - or ever find a fix? I'm just curious since I recently bought a computerized head as well and am trying to anticipate what issues I may encounter. It...
Here is a great review of a similar FP-100c film drying print holder: http://utahfilmphotography.com/2015/07/08/step5-polaroid-print-holder/
You can purchase it here for $30 + $6 shipping:...
Ok, I think it just finally dawned on me... I was confusing "crop" with "zoom". So 'a 150mm lens is 150mm lens is 150mm lens' all provide the same zoom amplification in the lens - making the subject...
Thank you Oren... that sounds reassuring =)
Yes Dan, coming from digital and calculating crop factor... that's why I'm familiar with 150mm on 4x5 being equivalent to 300mm on 8x10 for "normal"...

This is the same question I have been struggling with myself, and did not find it answered here in the forums or in the large format lens primer... so please excuse me resurrecting this old thread...
That looks like a great solution! Do you have your own CNC mill for this?
My roommate is painter and has these old 1/8" thick hardbord/hardboard panels left over, so I was planning to just clip my...
