Re: The Ortho Look On Pan Film

the results aren't too far off, but those aren't remotely the right filters to actually match the spectrum of ortho film. the whole point of ortho was to add sensitivity to greens and yellows, which...

Re: Enlarge lens 150 vs 135

    they're not. 150mm or 6" is the normal lens for 4x5, 135mm is a slight wide-angle.

Re: Best lens for ultra closeup…portraits!

what's your max bellows draw? you'll need roughly 1:1 magnification to get the framing you want, so a lens with a focal length that's half your max bellows draw will be your best bet.

    Re: Hello, from Manitoba

no, the lead is for absorbing stray x-rays instead of letting them potentially reflect off of something nearby and back onto the film. it's not involved at all in converting x-rays into visible light...
  10. Re: Aviphot vs. "Svema" vs. green x-ray vs. mammography ?

green sensitizing dyes aren't that specific and there's a limit to how much sensitivity you can shift to green, so there's not a huge difference. hru green is sensitive to everything from uv to...

  12. Re: bellows extension factor - getting the hang of it - any suggestions : )!!! ??

just convert your bellows extension to f-numbers. if you have a 140mm lens focused at a distance that adds 60mm of bellows extension, giving you an effective focal length of 200mm, that's f/1.4 to...

  23. Re: Need recommendations on f/4.5 lens of about 150mm

  24. Re: Need recommendations on f/4.5 lens of about 150mm

there are literally tons of old 6" or 7" f/2.8 or 3.5 projection lenses out there for dirt cheap that would work just fine.
