  1. Re: Should I Drum Scan, X1 Flextight Scan, or use the Epson V850 w/Aztek Wet Mount Ki

I think Sandy posted that he believes he is matching his Howtek by merging 3 frames from his A7RIV, pixel shifted. I think he said that was about a 900mp image of either 45 or 57.

    Personally I...

  3. Re: Affordable 8x10: Any Other Game than Intrepid?

I just checked out his site. I am into this system now so I think I need to resolve my issue with the Bellatrix before I can find a replacement, but based on the price, his geographic location, and...
  4. Re: Affordable 8x10: Any Other Game than Intrepid?

Forgive my ignorance but I had never heard of Richard Ritter... very interesting. Definitely a good alternative to a Chamonix price point.

Though I will say a Chamonix wouldn’t have to go back...
  5. Re: Affordable 8x10: Any Other Game than Intrepid?

I'm currently looking at Stenopeikas and Chamonix 810Vs. Lots more money but hey if it means the cameras actually WORK then I guess I get what I pay for.
  6. Re: Affordable 8x10: Any Other Game than Intrepid?

Update to my Bellatrix purchase and a bit of a rant. Things have not been rosy with this camera. I think most of the issues stem from the spring back...but I'm not sure.

First I went for two of...

    Re: Pyro

I’m just getting into a Pyro developer too. It’s been interesting. I tried to make a curve for Catlabs X film in 510-Pyro but I don’t think my Heiland TRD-2 can properly read the stain. My zone I...

Re: DSLR Scanning - Signal / Noise

I started my DSLR scanning journey with the K-1. A very fine camera in some ways. AFAIK the lower KP has pixel shift as well. I don't think APS-C vs FF matters much when it comes to scanning. In...

Re: DSLR Scanning - Signal / Noise

I like and use the Panasonic S1R even though the Sony has a better sensor. The reason being that Panasonic has pretty great tethering software, a variety of shooting ratios (1:1, 4:3, 3:2), and the...

That's not my impression of the marketplace these days. Maybe back when a studio was running hundreds of sheets of the same emulsion 4x5 or 120 E6 you could find lots of people who demand no less...

    Re: Harman Direct Positive Images

  21. Re: 8x10 Enlarger Chassis for Heiland LED Recs

Ugh, so annoying! Well at least I’d be able to easily do it with 57 and 45.
  22. Re: 8x10 Enlarger Chassis for Heiland LED Recs

Somewhat related question: If I wanted to print 8x10 with the fill film border included, which I usually do, do most 8x10 enlargers allow this? Or do you specifically have to step up to 10x10?
  23. Re: 8x10 Enlarger Chassis for Heiland LED Recs

I keep waiting to come across a deal...last guy I ran into with an 8x10 enlarger was asking like $15k. I don't think he'll get it! But talking him down to anywhere approaching reasonable isn't...

  26. Re: An imagined LED enlarger light source for 4x5 -- NEW INFO FOR TECHNICIANS

    Re: Lightbox for film scanning

I use Negative Supply equipment and it is fantastic. The light panel is not available yet but what I do have from them is built like a tank and does it's job perfectly.
  28. Re: An imagined LED enlarger light source for 4x5 -- NEW INFO FOR TECHNICIANS

The Heiland is an RGB color head in addition to VC coldlight. I have the controller but haven't printed color with it yet. I am thinking that if Heiland stands by it, it will work well.
  29. Re: An imagined LED enlarger light source for 4x5 -- NEW INFO FOR TECHNICIANS

The Heiland LEDs are quite expensive, however I love mine! I'm guessing it will last as long as I will and I'm only 36. No more bulbs, no more weird power supplies. No aging filters.

    Re: 8x10 LF Lenses

  35. 8x10 Enlarger Chassis for Heiland LED Recs

Re: Relevance of zone system when scanning

I would just take the film speed evaluation and metering techniques and then start shooting. That's largely what I've done and I'm darkroom printing too.
