  1. Re: Which State is the Best State for Landscape Photographers to Live?

Sal, apologies for tardy reply - Tax returns etc is the reason

I did not realize that non-US residents were excluded from commenting on any thread.
Mine were not the only postings trying to widen...
  2. Re: Which State is the Best State for Landscape Photographers to Live?

Being somewhat pedantic what exactly do you mean by ‘the continent’

There are six ‘continents’ Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia/Oceania, Europe and [the] Americas.

    The American continent is...
  3. Re: Which State is the Best State for Landscape Photographers to Live?

Once again moving away from the US-centric bias that pervades this thread. Why has nobody mentioned Australia?

Away from the coastal cities, Australia has some of the strangest landscapes in the...
  4. Re: Which State is the Best State for Landscape Photographers to Live?

I agree with the amazing lakes and rugged features but I thought that Ontario and all Provinces west would join the US in the 1970s after Charles De Gaulle's Vive le Québec libre on the balcony of...
  5. Re: Which State is the Best State for Landscape Photographers to Live?

Ignoring the US-centric bias of the question the best State for landscape photography is the State of Mind that is open to, and welcomes, all types of vistas.

    For instance, Russia, Antarctica and...
  6. Re: Iron ring on brass lens - possible to get off?

A final input - Simplistically a ferrous [we do not know if it is iron or steel] ‘ring’ has been placed over an external ‘tube’ of the lens. The ‘fitting’ of the ferrous ring to the lens tube is...
  7. Re: Iron ring on brass lens - possible to get off?

I've had another look at the images of posting #1.

It looks as though the solder, if that is what it is, is tin or a solder with a high proportion of tin.
The problem is that [I quote] "Solders...
  8. Re: Iron ring on brass lens - possible to get off?

Exactly this is the purpose of my posting 20 to determine as much as possible about the situation BEFORE cutting and/or removing any metal/material.
I'm confident that the bore(s) of the iron ring...
  9. Re: Iron ring on brass lens - possible to get off?

Based on your comments I'm a decade or so younger than you. But I started my apprenticeship at 15. In terms of skills, when I lived and worked in Canada [in the 1970s] we had a machinist who made...
  10. Re: Iron ring on brass lens - possible to get off?

Following this thread, it seems that some things are over looked.
1] Can you determine whether the white material is solder or something else?
2] Have you tried 'picking' at the material to see if...

In the third image there seem to be a lot of people on the Promenade - is this readily permitted in Spain or are the person-to-person isolation rules 'variable'??
