  3. Re: Does anyone know a cheap send-away place that can do a very basic CLA on a Wollen

Virtually any camera repair person can do a CLA. That is repair 101.
  4. Re: Does anyone know a cheap send-away place that can do a very basic CLA on a Wollen

Not if they are fully experienced at that price.
  5. Re: Simple Q for LF newby: Lens shade (trad 35mm type) vs. Compendium Lens Hood

Then maybe you’ve learned that a screw in hood on 35mm, DSLR or MF really can’t work.
For instance, with a zoom lens it doesn’t vignette at the shortest focal length and if it doesn’t vignette at...

  7. Re: Enlarging 4x5 with Film Edges in LPL 4550XL?

AN glass on the top and good quality float glass on the bottom. The newton rings form when a smooth flat surface is in contact with the glass. That would be the base side of the film, not the...

    Re: Linhof Serial Numbers

Sorry, donít have those numbers. When you take the lens off, is there a raised screw head on the body showing? If so it is the first version and wonít accept the 58. If the screw is not raised then...
  9. Re: pros/cons of two different lenses at the same focal length?

No, it would still be a 240 if you want it to look like a 300 you will need a 300.

Re: Elsa Dorfman: Me and My Camera

A quick short one. At Rollei of America we had an assistant marketing manager who was very funny. When Rollei introduced the A26-C26 instamatic Camera he had the job of demoing it at the PMA show in...

Re: Elsa Dorfman: Me and My Camera

There was a camera store in LA called PanPacific, a large store, heavily into large and medium format as well as amateur equipment.
The owners son managed to acquire one of the Polaroid 20x24...

    Re: Fake Schneider lens?

No, but I would want the factory to know that their IP was being violated.

In Schneider’s case the trademark was violated by the use of the Schneider name, the lens name and the lettering logos on...

    Re: Confused by lens math

If you have an exposure meter you can put the lens on your camera and meter your gg. This works best with a microscope adapter or a short tube to eliminate stray light and to position the meter...

    Re: Fake Schneider lens?

Look at the Exacta 66 SLR. Heinrich Mandermann bought Praktisix bodies from East Germany, imported them into West Germany, recovered them and relabeled them Exacta.

He was also the man that bought...

  20. Re: Is it worth it to use the Speed Graphic handheld from time to time?

But without the voltage and amperage thatís that Honeywell pack had.

My first strobe was an Ultrablitz with separate pack that besides the ready light also buzzed when charged.
  21. Re: Distance markings for lenses for field camaras. Is it a reason to buy those FL?

There is another big reason for distance scales, you might use flash and want to use an accurate distance to determine the proper aperture.

The Linhof Technika IV, and newer, have up to 3 distance...
  22. Re: Is it worth it to use the Speed Graphic handheld from time to time?

I used to use that same strobe, really liked them until one day the coil cord from the pack to the strobe shorted out and burned my shirt, my pants and my side.
Switched to Metz the next day!

If you really donít need it then have the shutter CLA and sell it. Or just sell it and let the buyer worry about it. You might contact Bob Watkins, Pro Camera in DC, Pro Camera in Charlottesville,...
  24. Re: For macro lenses on 4x5in cameras, what focal length is most useful?

    So there is no confusion.

The 120 and 180mm Apo Macro Sironars were corrected for 1:5 to 5:1.

The older 210 and 300mm Macro Sironars were corrected for 1:3 to 3:1. They were replaced by the 120...

    Re: Linhof Serial Numbers

Sorry, itís to new for my lists.
  26. Re: For macro lenses on 4x5in cameras, what focal length is most useful?

If you are shooting 3 dimensional objects the Apo Macro Sironar would be much better, especially at the edges and corners.
  27. Re: For macro lenses on 4x5in cameras, what focal length is most useful?

    180mm Apo Macro Sironar
  28. Re: For macro lenses on 4x5in cameras, what focal length is most useful?

What magnification do you want? What shaped objects will you shoot?
  29. Re: Toyo 5x7 deluxe monorail bellows and lens question

As long as they arenít bent they should be fine.
  30. Re: Travelers: New X-ray machines WILL ruin your film

You mean for sheet film? Or roll film?
  31. Re: Toyo 5x7 deluxe monorail bellows and lens question

Those are pictures of the cameraís front and rear standards that the bellows mounts to.
The bellows frames are on the bellows itself, you will see them once you detach the bellows from the standards.

  33. Re: Caltar II-N 210mm f5.6 aperture scale help

As long as you tell them 150mm Sironar N and Copal 0 it should.
  34. Re: Caltar II-N 210mm f5.6 aperture scale help

Be much easier to just order scales from Rodenstock and not tell them that itís for a Schneider lens. Just tell them 150 Apo Sironar in Copal 0.

    Re: Intrepid cameras

How did you leave out all of the specs on all the wood and metal Wistas? And why include the Master Technika Classic and not the 2000, 3000 or the TechniKardan?
  36. Re: Is there adequately protective flight case that can protect an ULF camera checked

Not with urethane foam and closed cell insulating foam.
  37. Re: Is there adequately protective flight case that can protect an ULF camera checked

Not if you store desiccant packets inside the case.

Mold has never been a problem with Rimowa cases.
  38. Re: Is there adequately protective flight case that can protect an ULF camera checked

If you can find one a Rimowa Tropicana can. So could custom cases from Anvil.

    Re: Filters for B&W

The filter will have the same filter factor (reduction) for the entire scene. If you want to want to balance the bright sky to the foreground you would use a graduated ND filter. That would let you...
