I thought the Black and White slider might be the same as adjusting Levels similar to black and white points on the histogram adjustment in Epsonscan??? How do you do that with Curves?

OK So I can scan flat with no adjustments including black and white points (levels). So when I open the flat scan in Lightroom, which sliders do I use to duplicate the adjustments to the histogram...
Are you using the more accurate scanner lens that works with the film holders rather than the less accurate on used on the platen for 8x10's?
It's not totally clear. Do you get more workable data setting the histogram before the scan or not?
Austin. You really have to stop photographing it and causing all that damage to the shingles.
Nice shots. ;)
You had to say "Yes." You would have made her day. What's wrong with you? ;)
Most regular people don't act that way. I've found they're interested in what I'm doing. Often excited and very curious. Of course, they may go home and tell their friends about the old...
I wonder if using a LF camera makes it seem the photographer is giving special attention to their work? That they're serious about what they're doing. That helps the subjects be more serious as...
Don't oil paint artists decide where to put the subject effectively deciding which lens angle to use? Sculptors? Why should photographers have any less choice?
Living in a 55+ retirement community, I know loads of other older people here have probably thrown most of the film stuff out. Some have kept it especially the more expensive stuff like Leica's....
Rainer, MAybe you can clarify something that I haven't been able too. Some people have said you ought to set the white and black points before the scan by setting them on the scanner's prescan...
Thanks, a little complicated. I found this explanation of why scanners are better wth orange masks than shooting them with a digital camera. Can anyone explain how a scanner does the following...
Can anyone explain in simple terms in 25 words or less the orange mask's purpose and why it creates problems when scanning?
What about using Levels?
Maybe he meant something else. After all, the V850 factory-supplied film holders have height adjustments built-in.
I think Sillverfast and Vuescan are overrated and not worth the money. Stick with free Epsonscan.
Steve, What do you mean reset focus in the V850?
NIce shot. About the banding. It could be you scan at too few dpi. What did you use? Also, when converting to a jpeg, setting the compression level too low can create banding.
The final colors seem a little undersaturated but that should be an easy adjustment.
Your Ektachrome version definitely looks off. I received the boxes of Ektachrome E100 and Provia 100F 4x5 film in Nov 2020 from B&H. My film was developed in an outside lab in June 2021.
Here's the earlier post again with the edits I made in Lightroom as well as the Levels during the scan.
Here are the scans before any edits in Lightroom. I only adjusted levels for the scan. The earlier comparison post had Lightroom edits as well.
Here's a comparison of 4x5 Ektachrome and Provia. Both shot in overcast skies. Ektachrome reds seem redder and Provia seems more orange. Greens are different as well. How would you describe the...
Thanks everyone for your input. I have to think about the options now.
[/B] Good points especially your last one, bolded. The problem is how to verify it.
Yes I:m aware of the sky issue. But a polarizer also removes reflections and darkens green grass and leaves.
Thanks for the info. The attached pictures shows the arrangement for my Nikkor 90mm f/4.5 used for 4x5 camera. So it appears I need a 150mm adj ND adapter and filter. I would use contrast filters...
I started 4x5 two years ago too and don;t like the upside-down view either. So I preview the scene with my micro 4/3 digital camera, It;s zoom lens also helps me select which lens I need for the...
But won't the 100mm filters vignette?
Anyone heard of or use Ice filters? WHich adapter for 105mm center filter lens.

I could see myself messing up the sets and having the wrong size filters for the lens I brought. I leave the step-up filter on each lens ready for the same sized filter. Why complicate things?
I have great filter set for my Mamiya RB67 mediu format camera. All their lenses take the same 77mm filter. When I bought a 4x5, I got step up adapters to 77mm and use the MF filters with the 4x5...
First, I hope you're not driving with the pain medication. ;)
Second I agree that it's all up to the photographer's eye. Unless you're trying to get colors to match let's say a garment color for...
I was afraid you were going to say that.
The advantage of this carry-all is that it carries you as well as your camera equipment.

Do they still manufacture Ektar 25?
Here are shots of Ektar 25 taken thirty years ago shot in 120 film with my Mamiya RB67. ...
That's why I like shooting chromes especially if I bracket. I know immediately which is the right shot.
How do you know the true colors anyway with negative film?
Does it matter as long as it looks OK to the eye?
How would you automate it to one click?
I started doing BW but am still more of a fan of color particularly Velvia 50 although I now am shooting Provia and Ektachrome. I've pretty much-stopped printing. My wife doesn't;t want me loading...
