Yes, it’s the overall brightness of the image. I’ll post an example here tomorrow.
  3. Re: Scanning overexposed B&W 4x5 negatives with SilverFast...

Yes, I used the DNG 16bit option whereby SilverFast doesn’t use any settings.
  4. Scanning overexposed B&W 4x5 negatives with SilverFast...

Any scanning gurus in here using SilverFast?

When scanning a B&W negative (4x5) that is overexposed about a stop or so I cannot get a good scan from SilverFast. Nothing seems to work. The...

    Re: Favorite Focusing Loupe?

I’d like to buy a Toyo 4x or 3.6x focusing loupe. Do any of you want to sell one? Thank you!

    Blotchy pattern on 4x5 negatives

    UPDATE:

I bought 3 boxes of 4x5 film holders from MAC. So that’s 6 total holders.

I did a light leak test today and sure enough the suspected holder has a light leak.

    I decided to look at...

Re: Blotchy pattern on 4x5 negatives

These were new boxes but have plastic dark slides. I have not heard back from Toyo yet. I hope to replace them with the aluminum dark slides.

Re: Blotchy pattern on 4x5 negatives

I am new to 4x5 and recently bought a Toyo 45AX. I also bought 3 boxes of film holders (6 film holders total). The dark slides seem to be plastic. I just ran into the problem you are describing on...

    TOYO 45AX bellows question...

    Hi all,

I did the math and to use a 300mm on a Toyo 45AX and focus at 25ft from my camera I would need to extend the bellows to 312mm (Max bellows on this camera is 321mm).

    Is extending the...

    Chamonix Hs-1 Review

Ok so if the tree is 25ft and I’m using a 300mm lens, I’d need 312mm worth of bellows extension.

The Toyo is 321mm (421 if I add an extender - for over $800!!!)

    The Chamonix H-1 is 350mm.

    Re: Chamonix Hs-1 Review

That’s true but I’d collapse it and put it in my backpack. I don’t enjoy hiking with the camera in the tripod.

I also don’t like how the front standard is not connected to the bed. Also the tilt...

    Chamonix Hs-1 Review

[QUOTE\] IMO, why not get an N or F model? A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush...[/QUOTE

    Re: Chamonix Hs-1 Review

I think someone mentioned the bellows is not long enough for a 300mm except if focused at infinity. The tree is 25ft from my camera and I have no idea if I can do that with a 300mm on the H-1.

    Chamonix Hs-1 Review

Well I’ve come full circle I think. I almost bought a Toyo 45AX (very similar to a 45AII) but I wanted stop in here and find out what you think.
