  1. Re: Best material to 3D print lens boards etc

If you have access to the various materials, you might try printing a lens board with each and comparing. My guess is that ABS would be the most durable. Make sure to test for opacity.
  2. Re: Tripods: Is Carbon Fiber worth the extra cost?

Check with Ari about FLM options. That's what I'd do in your position.
  3. Re: Tripods: Is Carbon Fiber worth the extra cost?

    Yes.
  4. Poll: Re: What's your #1 anxiety about LF (in your personal life)?

My biggest anxiety when shooting film is that something will happen and I'll not get a usable shot, whether due to a light leak, a shutter mishap, or similar. I don't have a lot of time to do LF...

This is why we might think twice before being too negative about new large format products. The truth is, there have always been problems. The most expensive camera I ever bought new, a Wisner...

    Re: Gitzo 1570M repair

Take apart. Clean. Lube. I've done that on my 1570M, and it's much smoother now. I used Super Lube. A few years ago, I gave Joe's Lubricants a try, as Right Right Stuff recommended it, but the...

    Re: DSLR Film Scanning

My laptop has 32 gig of ram and decent ssd drives. Those make the biggest difference in my experience. It's an Eluktronics RP-17. It's not fancy, but it's fast and affordable.
  12. Re: Notes on Fomapan 100 development with various developers

I'm pretty tired, and so I only skimmed your post. Are your density values net densities, i.e. minus film base plus fog? If not, then they should be. My experience is that a Zone I net density of...

    Re: DSLR Film Scanning

Always try what you have. That way you have a baseline of quality, and you can judge if it's good enough for you. I did a lot of scanning at 1x....but that was 7 years ago with a low res camera. ...

  16. Re: My new Jobo/Tmax 100 consistency problems solved

According to Kodak, using Tmax developer in a Jobo can lead to dichroic fog. That's why they recommended Tmax RS. If you don't have any fog, well, no worries.

  26. Re: Preferences for 150-165mm lenses in 8x10?

Maybe I'm unusual, but I don't focus at infinity very often. I'm often focus much closer to the camera. Doing so increases the image circle. I've used my 120 SA on 8x10, and it covered just fine. ...
  27. Re: Preferences for 150-165mm lenses in 8x10?

I have the Wollensak, but I haven't used it enough to have a good sense of it. A Nikon 150SW would likely be a good choice.
