    Re: Sinar P vs P2

    Question for P2 owners.

I have an 8x10 P2. When I turn the rear tilt knob I feel a *very* soft stepping sensation as it moves the standard along the arced gear track. It's a very subtle feel, like...

  4. Re: Calumet 8x10 C1 Green Monster Paint Color Matching

Yes, I looked into them. There's one about an hour from me. They can make oil based spray paint from any brand's color code. Not too terribly expensive if I find a pre-existing color match. It'll be...
  5. Re: Calumet 8x10 C1 Green Monster Paint Color Matching

Thanks for the suggestion, but I want to keep the green as I like it and there are only a few parts I need to paint.
  6. Calumet 8x10 C1 Green Monster Paint Color Matching

I've been slowly restoring a green Calumet C1 and would like to repaint some parts. Has anyone attempted to get a perfect color match for the factory green? Please share any successes.

  9. Re: Is this HAZE in 240mm G-Claron? Recommendations please?

    It be worth a try.
How about acetone, as I already have that on hand?
  10. Re: Is this HAZE in 240mm G-Claron? Recommendations please?

Thx. I'm not sure it's separation though.
The issue appears on both sides of the shutter in both the front and the rear cells. I would think that it would be unlikely that both sets of cells are...
  11. Re: Is this HAZE in 240mm G-Claron? Recommendations please?

I should add that the issue is on both sides of the shutter (both cells).
  12. Re: Is this HAZE in 240mm G-Claron? Recommendations please?

    Thx Dan.
I did unscrew both cells from the shutter and tried to clean those two surfaces, but to no avail. I'm wondering if the oily lubricant dried out over time and my normal cleaning fluid isn't...
  13. Is this HAZE in 240mm G-Claron? Recommendations please?

I just picked up a Calumet C-1 that came with two G-Claron lenses. The 305mm is fine. The other lens, a late model 240mm f/9 in black Compur shutter, is so cloudy looking through it is like looking...

Re: Rebuilding a Deardorff 11x14 Studio Stand

    Success : )

In prep for the move, I bolted a pair of 2x4's across the posts at the top to facilitate supporting the stand (something to hold on to) and also to help keep the posts stabilized while...

Re: Rebuilding a Deardorff 11x14 Studio Stand

Jason, I was wondering if you ever sourced proper size levelers that don't interfere with the wheels. All the options on McMaster for 5/8 thread posts are 2-1/2" and up. Those are too wide and will...

Perhaps I can add a jaw/threaded turnbuckle to the bottom of the existing chain.
    That should do it.

Re: Rebuilding a Deardorff 11x14 Studio Stand

I would think that there would have to be a nut to secure it from underneath. Otherwise you’d be twisting the chain threading into the base.
