    Look for a Schneider (Linhof badged if you can find it ) symmar convertible ( "plasmat" design i think .. )
    it will also give you a longer focal length, but it will take a large amount of bellows...

    yeah he's using one of john minnicks' aero liberators ( i think that is what its called ) i've used a regular old 4x5series D with a big fast tessar for handheld/street work, its about 300% easier...

    you need to have the camera on a tripod, and flip the T/I lever
    to flip the mirror up, and pull back the shutter separately.
    tripod helps with shallow DOF lenses too...

    "Hypo Check" will give you a false read if you do not use the product as directed, even with Edwals' Fixer it will give you a false read.
    The scrap of film / clip test Steve K mentions is the best....

    clear nail polish is collodion so it makes sense it stays put. The mustard works very very well, especially with pretzl lenses . With fancy lenses
    you really need grey poupon nothing else will do.
