I've been an architectural photographer all my professional life. I still do it occasionally when I find an interesting building and can get access.

Re: Prism Finder for Ebony Camera

Horseman made one for the VH that probably fits the earlier models as well. Wista also made an inline viewer that fits their 6x9 adapter screens and the sliding backs.

  5. Re: Fold-out viewing hoods for Horseman monorail.

Toyo and Horseman cameras use exactly the same kind of folding hood. The only difference, as far as I can tell, is the Horseman hood has a rubber sheet with the name embossed, and the Toyo has a...

Re: Copal 3 Shutters on Chamonix 57N

Copal 3 shutters generally come with a spacer ring to move the shutter about 10mm away from the lens board. This also lets the shutter controls be used easily.

    Re: weight of Rittreck View

I've sold a fair number of Rittreck cameras, and briefly used one. As Joseph confirms, they are extremely rigid. A few people are concerned about the bellows extension, which is ~396mm. But from what...
  12. Re: Can anyone help identify this 5x7 Japanese camera?

I think many, if not most, Japanese camera makers used standardized metal parts, and consequently, they look very similar to each other. The wooden parts also look similar. I have also been told that...

  15. Re: Sinar P2 Bright screen w/ Fresenl replaced with OEM Sinar GG

  16. Re: Sinar P2 Bright screen w/ Fresenl replaced with OEM Sinar GG

Is your Brightscreen a sandwich of a focusing screen and fresnel? If you're using an OEM GG, you need an OEM fresnel.

  18. Re: Sinar P2 Bright screen w/ Fresenl replaced with OEM Sinar GG

Yes. The OEM fresnel can be installed and removed in a second. It has hooks that are latched on to the back.
There is no way to install the OEM items any other way.

  19. Re: Sinar P2 Bright screen w/ Fresenl replaced with OEM Sinar GG

The fresnel on Sinar cameras is installed on top of the focusing screen.

The front cell unscrews from the shutter, just like the rear cell.

A clear photo of the front of the lens board without the shutter would help us figure out the problem.
