I had a 210mm Symmar S that would not cover 8x10. I now use a 210mm Apo Symmar L that does cover 8x10 at infinity with no movements.
I have a love hate relationship with 8x10. I love using the camera, composing the image, thinking about how to make the image better, the technical challenges, dropping the negatives on a light...
That was great. Thank you John.
This is not the most efficient route to using threaded filters. Buy the largest filters you may need, then use step up rings to mate the smaller lenses. For example, you have three lenses with 77,...
Sounds like there may be a small alignment issue. Also, if you use a 210mm Apo Symmar L you will get better coverage. I use it on an 8x10 and only get minor corner vignette focused at infinity and...
Trying to resurrect this thread.
The first is a Piper Cub (PA18) used by the Alaska State Troopers. Big tundra tires and all. Shot at Lake Hood Strip.

I just noticed your posting. I have done this trip about a half dozen times. I am going to assume that you are interested in the scenery as opposed to say shopping. I am also going to make an...
I have used the Linhof 6x12 back for over a decade now. I have never had an issue with it beyond weight, it's heavy like a brick. That being said, it keeps the film flat and is a joy to use knowing...
Thanks Bob!

Hi Bob,
Curious to know any info you may have on these:
Kardan Bi - 3611247
Technikardan - 9921109
Technika - 6491189
Thank you,
Tim
I don’t know much about the other lenses you have listed, however, the 300mm 5.6 Symmar S is a nice lens. On an 8x10 I have not run out of room for movements due to the lens; both color and B&W are...
They are heavy. Green does not necessarily mean that it's the magnesium one... check the weight with a scale. On a positive note, it is very stable (even in wind).
Howdy, I was busy shooting over the weekend.
Thanks for posting this, I was starting to wonder what's going on with Ilford.
Thought I'd add one more thing. Duggal called me yesterday, they wanted to charge me an additional $7. Apparently the shipping price they quoted me was incorrect. I said that instead of shipping...
I usually am buying on Ebay. However, recently, I decided to list my Pentax 67 equipment and two peices of Mamiya gear. The guy who purchased the Pentax equipment was a zero feed back person. It...
Hi everyone,
I contacted Duggal and spoke with their general manager. I explained everything that had transpired, and informed him of this thread. I did not post for a day in the hopes that he...
Jorge, You are probably correct that it was a new employee or something. I was both stunned and very unhappy that this happend, and that the employee who called me was unwilling to fix the problem...
Henry, that basically sums up the story for me. I'll inform Dugal of this thread tomorrow, and I hope they post their side of the story. It will probably be the same as the person said to me "a...
8x10 contact on metallic paper. Quoted $8 each when I called the customer service folks. When my negative arrived, and they called me back, $48 for the first, $25 for each additional.
I'll do that tomorrow.
I recently decided to get some stuff printed, and due to a lack of quality labs here in Anchorage (the one good one went digital), I decided to look for a lab in the lower 48. I have done business...
WOW! Thanks for all the helpful comments. I do make my own black and white contacts. This was color film, and I don't have the equipment here to do that myself. Yes, the camera equipment is...
Here is the situation. I have been shooting 4x5 for say a decade now. Last summer I wanted to try out an 8x10. I got an 18lb Calumet C1. I shot 30 images with it. I was unimpressed with the...
Calumet C-1, 18lbs. Then add the 23lb tripod and head that are stout enough to hold the green monster, the 4lb lens, a few film holders, etc... and you get a good work out.
What ever happend with this? What has Ebay done?
Flying / shooting from a small single engine airplane in remote (really remote) parts of Alaska.
Street photography in the not so good parts of Philadelphia.

I have an old Gitzo 5 series, got it off Ebay for $300. It must weigh twice what my 8x10 (18lbs) does, and goes taller than most step ladders (apx. 12-15 feet). I really like it not because of the...
Efke 25 does not look the same as Tech Pan. Also, Efke does not have the extended red sensitivity the TP does.
I spoke with B&H last week. They said that they would be receiving a shipment of Ilford film in two weeks. I guess wait and see if they really do get it in.
