    Re: Starting with ULF

Curious why you want to shoot 11x14 color. I have done it and concluded itís overkill for my purposes. Do you mind sharing your goal? Color contact prints, or what?

    Re: Large Format Landscapes

Beautiful buttery light, colors, and composition--leading line, reflection, full frame with clouds, near-far 3d effect, etc. Great job!

Great job of keeping attention on the trees and snow and not letting highlights from the sky portions overcome this scene!

Re: DIY Open Source Field Camera Design

MACKE, AFAIK Tim never completed the plans he started (post 183, above). He hasn't posted here in over a year, but you could try sending him an email to find out if he ever finished the drawings...

    Wow, great job.

Personally, I would edit out the fence, though.

What is your thought on leaving in man-made objects like this in a nature landscape? Just curious.

That shouldn’t be a problem. It can handle 11” x 11.8”. Although, at high resolutions you might run into file size limits.

Awesome! I got to use a 4500 earlier this year; scanned 15 8x10s on it.

    Re: Large Format Landscapes

    Superb, Steven.

This is on 4x5, right? I'm thinking I'd like to see a little more sky if you have it. There seems to be more color in the sky that could be included.

Yes. I was driving and had to pull over grab the camera bag and tripod and frantically find something to put in the foreground.

I knew whatever I found would be silhouetted, but there was no time...

Thanks, Steve. I know what you mean. I go back and forth on this; I think it just depends on the photograph. I have one from Utah that a printer color corrected because "snow is white, not blue"...

    Joseph,
    Thanks for posting this!

Did you apply any post-scanning sharpening in PS/LR? If so, how much and what were your conclusions?

    These are fantastic, John.

Would love to see your camera. Would you please post a picture of it?
  37. Re: Photographs Shot Using Your 11x14 Camera

Thanks Oren. They look great on the light box, but they are a bitch to scan and print. Nothing about ULF is easy, but then if we wanted easy we'd just use our phone cams.

  40. Re: Photographs Shot Using Your 11x14 Camera

Yeah, not much room for movements, but it certainly covers.

This is actually a crop since I used the Canon Powershot to photograph the 11x14 slide film on a light box. So this is, what? 75%...
