  2. Re: Ektachrome E100G and new E100 the same film?

No, it had to be reformulated due to some E100G components sourced outside of Eastman Kodak no longer being available.

Bean counters allocate a cost for every new SKU number. Since the old one is...
  3. Re: Fidelity elite 8x10 film holder question

Generally, 8x10 paper is eight by ten inches. Film identified as "8x10" is not; it's about 3mm smaller in each direction. If you don't trim the paper, it will likely be difficult to slide into...
  4. Re: Fidelity elite 8x10 film holder question

Take a closer look at the OP's photo. There's no "warping" involved here. Fidelity holders of that vintage (mine included) are simply not very rigid in the rib area. They bulge from light trap...
  5. Re: Fidelity elite 8x10 film holder question

I have a dozen of those 8x10 holders, purchased brand new 22 years ago at Calumet, selected from a much larger number in the store after depth checking all of them. Every one has always bulged like...

I've always attempted to dose curmudgeonliness when symptoms call for it. Sometimes poison can exterminate pests. I prefer sharing useful large format photography information (and rebutting...

I agree completely with Peter and Dan.

I disagree with Rick's implication that curmudgeonliness is a negative expression. :D

Re: Exact Full Plate Image Dimensions?

If you use a camera that takes modern holders (Ebony, Chamonix, Lotus), the defacto "standard" I worked out with Lotus, copied by Chamonix and Ebony, is that they expose an image area of 157.6 x...

I doubt it would. Fortunately, this site has a higher, non-commercial purpose and, therefore, is not sensitive to traffic reductions from those who use it primarily as a marketplace.

Re: LPL 4550XL + Heiland LED Explainer?

A 16.4°F rise most definitely distorts a 4x5 negative in the LPL glassless carrier. Concomitant decrease in relative humidity of the emulsion makes this pronounced.
