Re: Why are all of my photos soft?

It may just be a matter of finding the best plane of focus for that scanner. I used to scan 4x5 negatives with an epson V700. I found the best focus was raised up above the platen. My solution was to...

Re: Why are all of my photos soft?

If the negative looks sharp with a 3x loupe, itís sharp enough for at least a 3x enlargement. Iíd put your energy into troubleshooting your scanning setup. It sounds like your scans are soft.

Have you checked your camera for light leaks? I had a similar conundrum with a 5x7 camera years ago. I kept getting what looked like multiple exposures but I was SURE I wasn't exposing film more than...

How is the groundglass configured on your camera? Is there a fresnel lens? Is the textured side of the groundglass definitely situated forward toward the lens?

    Dallmeyer 8X10 Rapid Rectilinear

The small size maglites work well, too, the ones with a regular incandescent bulb. You can unscrew the lens and set the flashlight into the lens housing so the whole thing stands up like candle.

Better lens for my Crown Graphic?

With these cameras being upward of 50 years old at this point, could existing cams have worn along the bearing edge and eroded their accuracy?

Re: Better lens for my Crown Graphic?
