    Re: Epson scanner automatic settings

    Ted,
I assume you prefer the no Color Control option. The problem with that is you can make no adjustments at all. I generally only set B&W points but as I mentioned above, really liked digital...

    Re: Epson scanner automatic settings

Not sure if anyone is still interested in this but, based on the suggestions above, I did some "tests" on the different Configuration options in Epson Scan. Where I netted out for Configuration with...

Re: C-41 Development - First time

Sorry I wasn't clear. My images never come straight out of the scanner that clean and nice. My assumption is that after you scanned the negative you imported it in to a program like LR or PS, did...

    Re: Epson scanner automatic settings

Well two responses, two slightly different ideas:). Not surprising and I suspect that I will need to run some tests myself. I really don't shoot that often but I'll dig up some old negs and see. ...

    Re: Epson scanner automatic settings

I would really like to see some discussion of this. I've seen many "how to scan" videos. Most don't even mention the configuration page. Of the ones that do, I've seen recommendations for each of...

Re: C-41 Development - First time

Your photo is beautiful. Besides spotting, what post processing did you do to get to the final image?
  8. Re: Newb question: Store film holders with dark slides in...or out?

Thxs. Glad to hear that my instincts were correct.
  9. Re: Newb question: Store film holders with dark slides in...or out?

Interesting thread for me because I have been told by a couple of people that my Hasselblad backs should be stored with the dark slides out to preserve the light tightness of the backs. For all the...

Re: SP-445 - What Went Wrong

Here is a discussion of this issue. Short version: It may not be from putting the film in wrong.

  11. Re: Starting my focus calibration of V850 using resolution target

Thxs to both you and FB.
  12. Re: Starting my focus calibration of V850 using resolution target

    Pere,

Sorry if this is a dumb question but: Does the Table imply that setting DPI at approximately 3200 is the most "efficient" way to maximize the resolution of one's negative for an Epson 750....
  13. Re: Sam Hiser is still working on the New55 technology

    Exactly!
  14. Re: Sam Hiser is still working on the New55 technology

Fascinating essay. I kept hearing the theme from Man of La Mancha while reading it. I've used his monobath and am quite happy with it. Hope his impossible dream comes true. I'm in for the ride,...
  15. Re: Thoughts on the Nikkor-T 360mm with a Wista VX

As Mark said, to use the 300 effectively you will need to acquire a bellows extension or possibly a top hat lens board. Otherwise it will only focus at infinity on your Wista.

    Re: Southwest Florida / Everglades

I asked a friend who shot with CB and did his printing. According to him "his favorite was Ilford Delta 100 that was readily available in 5x7, 8x10, and 11x14.

He also used Fuji Neopan 100 and...

  20. Re: minimum focusing distance (Wista 45DX) 4x5 for bust shots

    Thank you both.
  21. Re: minimum focusing distance (Wista 45DX) 4x5 for bust shots

    SCM,

Mine is f/9 copal 1. Any concerns that the "rear element fits into the extended boards tube"? (Thxs Bob S).
  22. Re: minimum focusing distance (Wista 45DX) 4x5 for bust shots

    SCM,

Thxs. Just to be sure, I would buy a copal 1 version of the extension board. I would remove my Nikor 300mm lens from it's current lens board and attach it to this one. Once I mount the lens...
  23. Re: minimum focusing distance (Wista 45DX) 4x5 for bust shots

I hate demonstrating my ignorance, but I made the same mistake. Now I have a beautiful Nikor 300mm lens for sale because I didn't know I couldn't use it with my Wista SP. Could someone explain...

Yes. This is why I now simply tape my negatives to the glass. No bubbles, no lines, no rings.

Re: Newton rings on scanned 8x10" negatives

I was never able to eliminate "bubbles" from the scanner fluid when wet mounting. They were worse than Newton Rings. Using the 4x5 holder worked, but it takes awhile to get the neg flat, so...

I have 4x5 but simply taping negs to the glass (Epson 750) eliminated the problem for me.

    Re: Scanning Wet Mount Fluid

Based on this discussion in the scanning group on Flickr, https://www.flickr.com/groups/isf_scanner/discuss/72157664182773926/

I bought some gamsol, which is pretty cheap and available everywhere.
  37. Re: Experience with Atomic-X (sheet film used for the negative in New55)?

Another +1. Used R3 w/my MF. Just ordered R5. New to LF and can use all suggestions your group can provide.
