    Re: Digital IR

I really can't see there being much if any focus shift with just the R72 filter. I've used this filter for decades on HIE, Efke IR, Rollie IR, and have never noticed any shift. I do however, see it...

I agree with Robert. It looks like something could be blocking the calibration area at the top of the bed.

    Re: Digital IR

I ordered a cheap IR filter set consisting of four filters, from China, that vary in strength. 680, 720, 760, 850, 950nm. My current R72 is quite worn out, as I've been using it forever. Consists of...

    Re: Digital IR

Thank you, Peter. I tested with a 20mm lens, and it seemed to work okay with the R72. I'll have to do more testing, though to make certain. I've got lots of 18-55mm lenses for the photo program I...

    Re: Digital IR

Peter, I tried the wide prime on a D850, with the R72, and I couldn't really see an issue. I did though, with the 87C filter. Brutally long exposures that took ages for the camera to "process" the...

Yes, I was. Could that be the issue? Should I try a prime? I do have a wide angle prime.

    Re: Digital IR

Great images, Peter. Are you working with a non-converted camera with just the R72 on the lens? If so, I'm amazed. I have a D850 and have shot with the R72. Got great IR effect but always with a hot...

    Re: Rollei Infrared 400

This became my main IR film. I quite like it. I still have about 50 sheets of Efke IR in 8x10, though. That's lovely stuff, and much closer to old HIE. When I'm out with Rollie, I almost always use...
  17. Re: Citric acid equivalent for acetic acid bath.

I use vinegar at the school I teach photography, as it's plentiful and cheap. Diluted at "about" 1+1. At home I sometimes use vinegar, but more often use citric acid. One tablespoon per litre.

    Re: Shooting expired B&W film

My 1967 4x5 HIE has base fog equivalent to about one stop. Still produces excellent images. My HP5 that I've kept frozen since 2005, has about a third more base+fog. FP4 looks like new though.

Re: Dodging & Burning 8x10 Contact Prints

I use frosted mylar sheets and a soft pencil to dodge/burn areas. The mylar is laid on top of the negative, then covered with heavy glass. I also do this for kallitypes.

It seems to be doing very well on KS. Almost at a quarter million $$, and he only wanted 28K! What do KS people do when they have a ton of money leftover?
  23. Re: Use of X-ray film: technical discussion with example images

I've really been liking my results in D-23 1+3 (1+2 for carbon printing). I've tried caffenol, but B+F was too high for carbon printing.

    Re: Reveni spot meter

I don't want to use something that uses someone's system of exposure. And if I did use that guy's system, I'd always be paranoid of losing it. It's pretty tiny.

Pinhole size was about 1mm. Focal length was about 500mm. Exposure time was 25 minutes. I didn't bother with reciprocity correction as I didn't feel like standing there for an hour. Still turned out...
