I'm sure most of us field cam folks wouldn't turn down a sub-2lb monorail (Gowland?). But I think the vast majority of commonly-available monorails, especially in the lower price brackets, are much...

Good job Peter.
Clouds were bad but then we had a neat cloud inversion and the sky cleared. Really clear, nice viewing. Unfortunately I was positively exhausted from working all day and just...
I look forward to seeing what you shoot Randy!
Thanks Jon! I have an amazing skill, when it comes to cameras/lenses. If I get it in my head there is something I'd like to try/buy, it never fails...
Thanks Peter, Roger, and Pali!
One more engine for you, with the 8mm f/2.8 fisheye:

Nice work Pali. I can't even remember the last time we've had good skies here. Looks like a mediocre night for the eclipse tomorrow too :/.
Today we went up to Blue Ridge, GA. Happened upon a car...
The technical quality of LF photography when it comes down to finished prints was matched by common digital imaging tools at least 10 years ago.
The older 14-24mm doesn't have the ability to take screw filters.
I didn't know that. To clarify, I was talking about the older AF-S lens. I don't shoot mirrorless...well except for my rangefinders and LF cameras of course! :)
As an aside, I've used my 72mm XL (95mm filters) and center filter (112mm filter) with 100mm rectangular GND filters rubber-banded to the front. That cut off about 6mm of the front of the lens on...
I agree, I'm really digging the flaring from the pinhole and feel of the image.
Like I said, I just bought a 95mm R25 filter for $10 last week (high-quality Pentax brand). Deals are available.
67mm and 77mm are certainly more common, yes.
The early 55 does take 95mm. As do the 55-100mm and 90-180mm zoom lenses. Oh and the 500mm f/5.6 tele. I own and use all of these.
I don't know, I have a variety of 95mm filters, all found for $10-$20 on eBay. YMMV. 95mm is a pretty standard size for big telephotos on 35mm and 120.
Step-up to 95mm and standardize to that. Future-proof! ;)
This is more of a personal decision. Also decent filters at typical sizes are available used cheap. Recently I purchased a 95mm R25...
Thanks - my scanner just barely fits the 12x20 negative (Screen Cezanne).
I tray processed it. I have steel tanks I do 4x5 in (dip and dunk), so I warmed up the chemicals in them. Then I poured them in the 12x20 trays and developed. I'm sure I lost a couple degrees in the...
Thank you both!
So when I was loading film that morning, I opened a "new" (old, taped up) box of HP5+ film. I immediately recognized the notch codes as being Portra 160NC. It was also not even in...
Very nice Pali. Nice to see more of M51.
I like the contrast of the b&w Peter!

As I've been using a Symmar 360mm f/5.6 for my 12x20, I would say it should be an excellent lens for 11x14, with pretty much as much movements possible as you'd ever need.
Filters on the front...

Awesome! Nice flinch on the right. No cannons here today, but learned about big future events. 5 shots to develop now, 1 color!
Link? I might've missed it.
The urge hit.

Been struggling with Rollei IR400 for a little while. Recently picked up a proper 95mm R25 filter which I wanted to try with my 40mm and am happy with these results. Debating buying some more Rollei...
I never do this, unless I have a known issue with the bellows. My opinion is that if you can't shoot with the bellows exposed to light, your camera is broken. Maybe you can limp along with this trick...
I think oftentimes folks hit page one and post #9 and decide to respond (especially new folks who get dumped on the first page of the thread).
13+ years later and still raising hackles :).
Pentax 67s, Hasselblads, Mamiya 6/7s, etc. are up up up. You may have been lucky with a lesser-known or less popular camera. 120 is as popular as ever from what I've seen.
At this point I would toss every chemical you own and get fresh everything.
My bet is you made the classic "fixer first" mistake and then possibly got fixer in with the unused developer,...
Thanks Austin, that means a lot coming from you!

Thanks CB. An interesting thought on the cropping.

Trying out a lens I've wanted to have in my collection for a while - the Nikkor 7.5mm f/5.6 circular fisheye. Still a big lens but much, much smaller than the venerable 8mm f/2.8! I used it on a...
Yeah that'd definitely whip anyone in shape! I suggested Yonah recently for a team-building outing at work but they weren't too keen on that hike! :)

Thank you for your thoughts Philip! And thanks tuco. I really like the cattle and I think it will appeal to some of the folks I see at festivals visiting from the west, even though it was shot in GA.
Thanks Rick and mono! Rick, I'll probably print both. I think they are an interesting pair, with the tree in solitude vs. The same tree surrounded by grasses that play off its form and tonality, just...
