    Re: Linhof Serial Numbers

    Thanks Bob,
I know its is not your fault how Linhof put those numbers in the list. Likely just a transposed number as it is highly likely 1956.
You do a great service to the Linhof community. The...

    Re: Linhof Serial Numbers

I assume you mean 1956 for the 6x9 IV, as the 6x9 III began in late 1951.

Makes since as I believe the IV - 5x7 & 4x5 were first shown at the 1956 photokina ahead of the 70th year sales...

    Re: Linhof Serial Numbers

    Thanks Bob.

From what I can tell so far the III begins in the 4000's and seems to jump into the 8000's for a bit before/while becoming the IV... Makes sense that the overlap takes place beginning...

    Re: Linhof Serial Numbers

Hi Bob, what SN was the -

    The last 6x9 Technika III
    First 6x9 Technika IV
and did the production dates overlap?

Linhof and the camera dealers of that era (1950's) almost never refer to them...
  8. Re: How do you clean your ground glass and make it brighter?

I haven't tried bleach but that is a very strong chemical. I use a wet finger and gently rub a bit of comet... Ajax is basically the same stuff... as mentioned you can erase or fade any guide lines...
  9. Re: How do you clean your ground glass and make it brighter?

I do the same and use comet - a gritty dry cleaning powder. The older the GG the brighter it gets as these can get pretty dirty over time...

Generally the finer the grind the brighter it can get...

I have a collection of my grandfathers slides and negatives going back to the 1920's. Of course the color E6 and C-41 date from the 1950's. The early E6 Stocks from the 1950's can be quite...
