Re: Chamonix 45N-2 and offset lens boards

Whenever I want any lens centered on any view camera, I just check that the 4 crescents are the same when I peek through the cutouts. More likely than not, if I'm using a view camera, the lens won't...

Re: Sheet metal flatness / availability

The Starrett catalog. I got a Starrett catalog at a used book sale in 1973. I was fascinated with all that stuff; I wanted to be a designer in Jr High.

Re: New lens to me :)

Nice, you indeed have the correct aperture scale. Next would be to see if the shutter fires correctly at the speeds and see if you have the correct rear cell and the lens elements are free of haze or...

Re: New lens to me :)

210mm is a nice focal length for 4x5, I currently have a 210mm on my camera now.

I think you can use up to a 450mm lens with that camera, so that convertible lens should work just as well as the...

Re: What photo paper grade means?

The logarithm of the exposure range required to give a full tonal range, expressed to two significant figures, with the decimal point removed is ISO(R). Typical figures might be Grade 5 = ISO(R) 40...

    Re: Lets See Your Darkroom

The only thing that would go that low would be the baseboard of the big Durst and the area around that is free from reflective surfaces.

Ok thank you for the picture. Looks like a Durst L1800. Having one of the gears will allow you to figure the pitch and physical width. Knowing the shaft centers will give the diameter of the new...

Your question reads like you have a L184. Do you have a Lamot 110 as in the picture?

  18. Re: Aristo 11X14 enlarging head power source.

My Aristo 1414 came to me bolted to the negative stage of my Durst L1840 with some makeshift brackets, but the 1414 was actually designed to slide into the condenser slot on a condenser head. That is...
  19. Re: Aristo 11X14 enlarging head power source.

Some images that were lost in my thread on this Aristo head.

FYI I sold the Aristo for $1200 on ebay in 2016. At the time a new lamp was available for $500.

  20. Re: Aristo 11X14 enlarging head power source.

I had a few posts about this Aristo 1414 head on my Durst enlarger back in 2008. I looked back, however, al the images in the thread below are gone.

Re: Red Bellow vs Black Bellow

I made my new Century bellows from black material. Originally, I think it may have been more subtle red/maroon, rather than the bright red offered today for replacement bellows.

    Re: 4x5 macro advice needed

Seems to be a somewhat common problem. Maybe the LF books don't cover it in detail, but your subject-to-film distance has to be at least FOUR TIMES the focal length to get any focused image with a...
  32. Re: Searching for super long lenses 600mm plus

  33. Re: Schneider Super-Angulon 75mm and Vignetting on 4x5?

  37. Re: Getting back into 8x10, would a cheap Intrepid Satisfy?

  38. Re: Getting back into 8x10, would a cheap Intrepid Satisfy?

  40. Re: Moderate wide + shallow DOF lens recommendations?

The answer is a 105mm on 4x5. It will give exactly what you asked for. Trouble will be finding one that covers as most are 6x9cm lenses.
