    Such a great picture!

  3. Re: Can it be a solution for avoiding newton rings

    Drew,

What is your experience of putting a sheet of Mylar between the glass the negative?

    Thanks.
  4. Re: Can it be a solution for avoiding newton rings

    Found this one:

    http://fpointinc.com/glass.htm

But its online ordering is not working and don't know if it is still in business.
  5. Re: Can it be a solution for avoiding newton rings

    Laci,

My 810 contact printer are using 9x11 and 9 5/8 x 11 11/16 glasses and the betterscanning offers 8x10 glass.

Has anyone used contact printing Mylar sheets? How does that work?
  6. Re: Can it be a solution for avoiding newton rings

I have also noticed that 810 Tmax film gives the most Newton ring as its very shiny side is pressed against the glass.
  7. Re: Can it be a solution for avoiding newton rings

All my printings are contact printing and all my contact printing frames give me Newton rings. Should I replace them with Tru Vue Museum glass? They are made for picture frames, not contact printers....

    Re: 8x10 Portrait Lenses

A 16 inch Heliar is bit too heavy for the front standard of Kodak 2D. A 14 inch one with a Packard shutter will be nice.

    Re: Which Chamonix 4x5?

It comes with a black carry bag and you can leave your lens on the camera. But you can't use your 450mm lens with H1 camera as it can't take an extension board.

    New Mexico during Christmas

We are thinking about a road trip from southern California to New Mexico during Christmas for about a week. Any tips and recommendations for spots to shoot?

    Thanks.
  17. Re: Head and Shoulder Portrait Lens for 11x14 Camera

You actually can use single element of Cooke convertible lens for 11x14 head and shoulder. I have tried the rear element for some head shots. Not bad at all.
  18. Re: Epson V850 work-around for scanning 5x7 negatives.

I have just read somewhere that a sheet of undeveloped but fixed 8x10 film could be used as a spacer placed directly on the scanner glass and then the 8x10 negative to be placed shining side down....
  19. Re: Epson V850 work-around for scanning 5x7 negatives.

Is it possible to lay 5x7 negatives on the scanner like prints and simply scan them? I was told to use 24-bit-color and at 300 dpi. I just want to digitize all my 45, 57, WP and 810 and larger...
  20. Re: Head and Shoulder Portrait Lens for 11x14 Camera

    Jim,

What lens did you use for your brother's 11x14 head shot? I still remember that picture.
  21. Re: Need Advice on 16x20 cameras and film from owners/users

I use my Chamonix 16x20 and have a 14x17 back so I can shoot both formats. I can handle it myself as long as the walk is not over a mile. :)
  22. Re: Head and Shoulder Portrait Lens for 11x14 Camera

You probably need a 24 inch lens. 19 inch lens is good for half or whole body.

  30. Re: Very neat artice by the New Yorker on Thomas Joshua Cooper

I didn't state it clearly enough: he would travel many days or weeks to a location and make a single exposure. Just one exposure.
  31. Re: Very neat artice by the New Yorker on Thomas Joshua Cooper

What puzzled me is that he took only one picture at one place which led me to think the whole expedition experience was more important than the ultimate image which most other serious photographers...

  36. Kodak Rapid Selenium Toner - new version?

I need some selenium and there are two items of Kodak Professional Rapid Selenium Toner at B&H. One is marked as 2019 version and is about 35% cheaper. Any ideas?
