  1. Re: Should I Drum Scan, X1 Flextight Scan, or use the Epson V850 w/Aztek Wet Mount Ki

Impressive results, wow! Looks very nice.

Your set-up looks great and I absolutely agree, scanning with digital cameras is going to be the future for many. Most of the copy stand set-ups I've...

Re: Is folding a Toyo difficult?

Not particularly, no. You have to visually check and line it up slightly before closing, but I always found the 45A(II) to be quick and nimble to set-up/fold.

    Re: Drum scans in Montreal?

    Hi Pere,

Thanks for your reply, but it's clearly off-topic for this thread re: drum scanning services in Montreal. I simply included a link to my new service on an old thread. I asked the mods...

    Re: Drum scans in Montreal?

I agree with most of what you're saying, Bob. I think we're on the same page re: sharpness/DMax being much less important than the work on the wall. I'll agree to disagree on the Imacon, but they are...

    Re: Drum scans in Montreal?

Also, just wanted to clarify my initial comment. I was referring specifically to drum scanning services in Canada and was not referring to your services whatsoever. Sorry if it came across that way....

    Re: Drum scans in Montreal?

I am also in touch with B3K and will be performing some comparisons, very interested to see the results. I have no doubt that their system will surpass an Imacon but I'm curious to see how it will...

    Re: Drum scans in Montreal?

    Hi Bob,

Thanks for your reply. I absolutely agree that the operator is the most important element to any scan, hence why bad drum scans are easily beaten by good Imacon scans even though they're...

    Re: Drum scans in Montreal?

Hey Caleb– appreciate it, thank you! Love the project you're working on as well.

I'm definitely walking a fine line, so I appreciate the feedback. Some of the comments apply mostly to the Canadian...

    Re: Drum scans in Montreal?

Interesting! I've never worked with HP scanners before. At 1200ppi you are probably still getting "real" resolution from an 8x10, so as long as that's enough pixels for your print it should be fine....

Re: Looking for Lab for Lambda Print, 60"

I've made digital C-prints on ZBE Chromira 50" LED printers for several years and can confirm that there are many issues trying to get neutral B&W output with them. I suspect that you would find...
  13. Re: Lab for large digital (lightjet/lamda) C-Prints

They're uncommon but a few labs do have OcÚ 500XL lightjet printers that can print up to 72 x 120 inches, namely Duggal and Laumont in NYC. Likewise I've heard that Ferrari Color and Coloredge have...
  14. Re: 8x10 E6 processing Who and Where? North America (USA and Canada) HELP!!!

Your best options in Canada are Borealis in Montreal and The Lab in Vancouver. I've had many issues with C41 development at Borealis but they are quite reliable for E6. I haven't personally worked...

    Re: Drum scans in Montreal?

Haha! I haven't finished the comparison sections yet so stay tuned.

Epson could easily make a better quality scanner, but they haven't bothered to update the design since 2006 other than some...

    Wista 45SP / Rodenstock Grandagon-N 90mm 4.5

    Hi all -

I've spent the last month or so reading up on field cameras, monorails, as well as lenses in order to start a large format kit for my progression from MF to LF. I have mostly been using...
