For the Epsons I also strongly recommend ditching the film holder that has the clear static electricity/dust magnet panel and picking up one of the older through hole 2 sheet holders from your...

I'm aware of the duplicate serial numbers, which is why I was hoping to focus on barrel markings and simply presence or absence of glass markings. I hadn't heard of both names appearing on anything...
I know Darlots are extremely hard to date, but I'm wondering if anyone has put together (or if we could do it as a community) known dates associated with their marking changes.
I'm aware of the...
I don't know enough French to even think of that, but that's a really good idea. Thank you!
Thank you very much! 1895 lands pretty much exactly where I was guessing based on the design. Was hoping for a little more info on the shutter mechanism, but given the short run I'm not surprised...
I did look through those that I could find (possibly too quickly, given the lack of a search function) and didn't find anything, but thanks for pointing out a couple specific to check more...
Anyone have any information on Camille Desmoulins lenses? A search on here for Desmoulins comes back with absolutely nothing, which surprised me. Google is no help thanks to the name being...
I love my crown and my speed. I thought I'd use the crown far more than the speed, but when I swap out lenses I love having the consistent shutter speeds from the speed. I have too hard a time...
I've got a 250mm and a 120mm Imagon which I love. I had forgotten about flipping Petzvals. Good idea, and I need to try that with my Darlot Cascet next batch I take. I think my Speed Graphic will...
Thanks for the compliments. I do need another good landscape lens. Any recommendations based on the ones in this thread?
These are great and put my efforts to do similar with my collection to shame. I just started putting mine together last week at https://grumpyoldman.dev/Lenses/ mostly so I could remember which lens...
I've been wondering if the focal length measurement was mistakenly taken from the front of the lens, which might put it closer to the expected value for a lens of that size. But I'm having a hard...
Thanks all. I was under the impression it was the first, but since none of mine give accurate timing I figured I'd ask. Especially since if you're hitting the release the number comes up first from...
I got started with a Speed Graphic and printing lens boards to use other lenses. I agree with everyone here that LF can be time consuming and if you're just getting started then having a camera you...
I've got a few 4x5 Graflex (2 Speeds of different eras and 3 Crowns of more recent times) but this was my first 5x7. You're right in that it can get to 1500 in theory. The spring mechanism isn't...
I picked up an early model 5x7 press graflex in amazing condition recently, but it has an oddity I didn't expect. When setting the spring tension there seem to be three clicks for each number on the...
I can't quite keep the shadows from washing out. I think I may have overdeveloped this one.
1880 Voigtlander
1940 Speed Graphic
Kodak 320 TXP
189513
A wedding photo done on a J Lane dry plate with a Scovill 1885, so the shutter speed (my hand) was somewhere around 13 seconds. Tray developed. When can I get one of those SP-8x10+ prototype? :p

I normally use my old lenses with my Speed Graphic, but I wanted to try something digital. The results were far better than I expected given the cheap "Lens Turbo" up front. A couple of the pieces...
Thank you very much. You answered pretty much every question I had. Not sure exactly how old this set is, but it's slightly different than your instructions. The lenses are 11, 13, 17, 25, 38, and...
If you watch ebay you can pick up a Dallmeyer for ~$300-400 or an unmarked (if you're feeling brave) for $100-300, but good ones in good condition are definitely pricey.
Any half plate lens should be fine, so ~4-6" or similar lenses. Dallmeyer and Darlot both made lenses in that range. I've found a lot of older 5x7 lenses work nicely with 4x5 as well. I've done...
I finally picked up a Darlot Cascet set and have been pleased with some of the shots I've taken (mostly of my wife who has not approved their posting to the internet yet.) What I'm not understanding...
