Re: Enlarge lens 150 vs 135

I'm not sure about the current market for large format enlarger lenses. Quite a while back a got a set of silver, Durst branded, Componon lenses for less than $100 each. These went from 80mm to...

$10,000 enlarging lens? Nothing I ever heard of in a Durst mount, but just about anything could be adapted I suppose.

The 210mm Componon-S came with only five blades, so it is easier to re-assemble. With paitience, you should be able to get yours back together.

Late model Schneider Componon-S, 240mm, 210mm and 135mm. Does not get much better, or expensive than this in enlarging lenses.

210mm Nikkor is a nice lens. Recessed lensboard or longer shaft on the filter holder.

    Which enlarger?

Maybe you need bigger filters. I use below the lens Ilford filters with a 300mm Rodenstock 5.6.

Re: Enlarge lens 150 vs 135

The Schneider Componon-S 135 and 150 both perform better at 3X >6x>12x. The MTF curves are very similar except at the far edge of the 135.

Not sure I understand about the transformer. Where to you live? In USA most all homes have 220v. Also confusing is the CLS1840 uses a 120V lamp.

Re: Enlarge lens 150 vs 135

Schneider 150 has less light fall off than the 135 based on their literature. (red = 150; green = 135)
Also, because of the narrower angle of view, the 150 is less likely to show the edges of the...

Re: What Do I Charge for a Portrait Session?

If these are darkroom prints, I'd have to charge thousands. That is a lot of work even with an assistant.

If providing inkjet prints I'd ditch the 8x10, use a DSLR and make money on the deal.

  30. Re: Mounting enlarger and process lenses into Copal/Compur shutters.

Spacing of the elements can alter flatness of field. For distant images, you might need to experiment with the best spacing to get center and edges sharp for your purposes.

I did not create these files. I just downloaded the files and sent them to a printing facility for black resin. I'm very happy with the result.

Under exposing sheet film and over-developing it is not commonly practiced. Maybe like using a view camera hand -held. Not common, but not without merit for special circumstances.
