    Re: post your trees!

I made this image early this morning, just as the fog was burning off. Shot on Pancro 400 and processed in BER49. Experience indicates that this element functions as about a f11 lens on 8x10, so I...

Re: Looking at two lense for 4x5 to 8x10

I love my 12" f4.5 Kodak Ektar lens. I have the exact same lens/shutter as the one you are referring to (on fleabay). But even if its in pristine condition, $1200. is a bit steep. You should be able...

Re: Wide angle lenses for 8x10

I like my 7.5" Kodak Wide Field Ektar on 8x10. There's no room for movements (well, maybe a tiny bit) but its an excellent lens, IMO.

I have an 1870s Darlot Wide Angle Hemispherique #3 which I use for making wet plate negatives. It has a unique system of "waterhouse stops" that is very clever. The lens cost $20 in an 1885...

    Re: Lightleak or development issue?

Uneven development isn’t going to create density in unexposed areas. This is a light leak from somewhere, and it’s mostly happening at the dark slide end of the holder.

Re: 7 1/2 inch Kodak Ektar F4.5 question

You won't really know much about any lens's performance until you put it into use. Will image quality in the corners be less than ideal? Almost certainly. Will there be some vignetting in the...

  18. Re: 203mm Ektar f7.7 vs modern APO Plasmats for color

My 203mm Ektar is my favorite lens on the 4x5 (and sometimes on the 5x7), used often for making wet plate collodion images, and almost always shot wide open. Superb lens.

    Re: Intrepid 8x10 experiences?

As an aside, I have found that if you leave the 8x10 Intrepid set up for a day or two, the bellows will sag enough to start impinging on the interior space, potentially obscuring some of the image....
