    Re: Ilford Rapid Fix considerations

I used to own two vertical print washers (one could do up to 20x24 prints) but they were a tremendous waste of time and water... The fill and dump method is well suited for those of us who have tiny...

    Re: Ilford Rapid Fix considerations

It's been my main fixer forever. I never wash fibre-based papers in running water for 60 min. Instead, they get HCA bath, then Ilford's fill, and dump method.
  5. Re: CatLABS X FILM 80 MKII now available in 8X10

Developed a few sheets exposed to a stepwedge and developed in Xtol. Made curves. Went out this morning to field test. Hopefully will have a video up by next weekend. :D

    Replenished Xtol.
  8. Re: CatLABS X FILM 80 MKII now available in 8X10

I'm working on it slooooowly. I've got to get this 510-Pyro video out of the way first. I should have that one all edited by tomorrow, then I can concentrate on the MKII.
  9. Efke Aura, Rollei IR, Zomei 720 & Urth 720 Filters

Played around with these two infrared film at the North 40 Regional Park in Delta, BC. I know these films' characteristics are quite different... but how different are these two filters... or are...

  11. Re: Best Fast (high output) Film Development Method?

I once did 25 sheets of 4x5 HP5 in two, 8x10 trays, both containing the developer. Out of one tray in to the other, and back again. Wear gloves! Majority of them were to get my normal development...

    Film & Filter Fun!

Finally finished editing this video I made shortly after the red brick filter video. Editing (done properly) can be very time consuming. Tweak here. Tweak there... I was working with HP5 and (long...
  13. Re: CatLABS X FILM 80 MKII now available in 8X10

Sussing-ning... Can I use that? :D I haven't scratched any negatives, and I've almost been through one box already.
  14. Re: CatLABS X FILM 80 MKII now available in 8X10

With Xtol, the speed seemed slower than 80, and closer with Pyrocat-hd. But I'm I'm not 100% sure yet. I'll have a better idea when I take some out in the field. Got to do some box speed and...
  15. Re: CatLABS X FILM 80 MKII now available in 8X10

So far I'm liking this stuff, although I have gotten past the step wedge phase. I've developed a bunch in Xtol-R, 1+1, Pyrocat-HD 1+1+50. The 1+1+50 dilution is too strong, for a decent range of...

    8x10 HP5 and J&C Classic

I was quite attracted to a balustrade which led to a big column with the shadow of leaves cast upon it. I brought along HP5 and the no longer available J&C Classic (which apparently is Forte 400)....
  19. Re: Use of X-ray film: technical discussion with example images

Thanks for that. I've got an old round safelight housing which will take one of those... I see some online.
  20. Re: CatLABS X FILM 80 MKII now available in 8X10

I'm chomping at the bit to test this stuff!
  21. Re: Use of X-ray film: technical discussion with example images

I talked a lot about it waaaaaay back in this thread... like we are talking years ago! I was using over-sized ziplok bags that I ordered online. The bag is laid in a tray, and the film is slipped...

Have you tried developing HP5 in an unconventional develop, such as DK50 or D-19? I've used both of them diluted 1+3, and have been able to make Kallitype and Carbon Transfer prints. Conventional...

    510-Pyro Adventures Have Begun!

    Re: Efke IR 8x10 Shoot

Agreed. Green filter had no benefits with this particular image... The difference was only noticeable if you got in really close, and only where I indicated in the video. As far as hotspots go, I've...
  32. Re: CatLABS X FILM 80 MKII now available in 8X10

I guess because at the end of the day, less paper is used?
  33. Re: CatLABS X FILM 80 MKII now available in 8X10

Yes, I suppose it is... but you can literally see the inner bag by lifting up a corner the flap! There is no inner box.
  34. Re: CatLABS X FILM 80 MKII now available in 8X10

Sure! What developer do you mainly use?
  35. Re: CatLABS X FILM 80 MKII now available in 8X10

It does! Thanks. A quick word about the packaging. I've never seen such flimsy boxes for 4x5 film before. I hope the bag inside containing the film is light tight!
  36. Re: CatLABS X FILM 80 MKII now available in 8X10

Well, my two boxes arrived from Amplis and it says on the box, X Film 80 II... is that the newest version?
  37. Re: Use of X-ray film: technical discussion with example images

Am I the only one using D-23? I've used a gazillion developers over the years with XRAY films, and it has been my favourite so far. D-23 1+1, 1+2.

  38. Re: Bergger Pancro 400 is now available in 11X14 and 16X20

I would probably use this film if 14x17 were available, and only if they addressed the high B+F issue I mentioned earlier.
  39. Re: Use of X-ray film: technical discussion with example images

Once I'm through the 100 sheets of the cxsonline green latitude 14x17 (got about 20 sheets left...), I'll tackle my box of HR-U Green. I'm imagining EI will be similar.

    Efke IR 8x10 Shoot

Was out at one of my favourite locations late last August, and exposed some Efke IR 8x10 with a 720, and 87C filters. Made a couple of Alt. prints from one of them...
