  1. Re: Precision and Accuracy in LF Photography: How much is enough?

I did have the luck that someone showed me how to develop and yes, this is still the best way to learn. But there are very few clubs around and none of them have film users afaik.
  2. Re: Precision and Accuracy in LF Photography: How much is enough?

It is a Seconik L-758D and it agrees with any digital camera I have (Canon 5DII and Mamiya ZD) and it agrees with all MF slides (Provia 400X and 100F and Velvia 100) I have taken the last 10 years....
  3. Re: Precision and Accuracy in LF Photography: How much is enough?

Where do I start a new thread about this? I have really no idea if this is a lens, shutter, film, development or other issue.
  4. Re: Precision and Accuracy in LF Photography: How much is enough?

Don't think I could get used to it. Have been using it since the day we played lan games on the company network during lunch. (anyone feels for some Decent?)
  5. Re: Precision and Accuracy in LF Photography: How much is enough?

Well, that is about what I do! Those photos were all in HC-110 dilution B. Got some graduated cups at the drugstore (an apothecary here in europe). And I use a Jobo with a Paterson timer. Always at...
  6. Re: Precision and Accuracy in LF Photography: How much is enough?

I'll start a new thread about this when I found where I'd do this best.

There is something to be said for a single film. BUT, how do you select a film? I think you can only do that by trying...
  7. Re: Precision and Accuracy in LF Photography: How much is enough?

Those are 4 different films, exposed to their nominal iso rating, developed according to their makers datasheet for the developer used. It was Delta 100, Fomapan 100, FP4+ and Adox CHS100II.
  8. Re: Precision and Accuracy in LF Photography: How much is enough?

If you know better, then please explain what is the cause. I'm really wanting to know and I want to learn. But your answer doesn't help for that.

Sorry if I sound aggressive but I really am...
  9. Re: Precision and Accuracy in LF Photography: How much is enough?

Amen. I came to the same conclusion. For some reason, LF is just a lottery.

Which is a fallacy. There should not be any difference in lattitude compared to other formats. Any optical property...

    Re: I've built a 5x7" camera

Indeed, a beautiful camera! Very professional finish.
  11. Re: Precision and Accuracy in LF Photography: How much is enough?

I think another thing that is missing is repeatability. This is different from accuracy and precision.

Has anyone thought about how much a camera changes when you use it at any other temperature...
  12. Re: Precision and Accuracy in LF Photography: How much is enough?

Good questions for having discussions at the picolux and femtolux protection society. But just like you, I feel that some are only of concern for machinists and lab equipment.

    For me the greatest...

Re: Newcomers to LF: First Read The Book

Does everybody needs to work the same way as someone that lived before they were even born? He worked with materials that were maybe not even available. From what I understood, he even did not all...
  15. Re: Large and rather interesting Schneider Optik lens in large shroud or barrel???

Very likely a Mamiya 645 mount. (P6 has 3 identical petals, M645 has 3 different sized ones)

Re: Removal of graphite from aperture blades

Looks normal to me. This type of shutter works with polarisation so you loose always about half the light. Same for Kerr cells. Might also be difficult to make it 100% opaque.
  17. Re: Large and rather interesting Schneider Optik lens in large shroud or barrel???

My first tought was that it could be a Pentacon 6 mount. But then again, the 3 petals look a bit too large to be P6. What is the diameter of the lens mount (with and without the petals)?

    Re: Old Things,Farms,Barns,Buildings, Plus

Shot this one with the pinhole on WWPD. Old farm in the vilage I live. Had to cut a bit off that was completely black. I put it in the jobo and forgot it... was developed almost twice as long as...

Re: Monorail vs. Folding Camera Weight

There is strength and stiffness. And then there is practical use. Maybe you can get everything lighter with those materials but at a point you need bulk. Not because of the strength or stiffness but...

Re: Removal of graphite from aperture blades

One day, they will be worn so far that a simple clean will not restore them. You might need to build up metal on the surface (and maybe resurface) to get within working spec.

    Re: 6 1/2 x 8 1/2 cameras?

I don't know. Buying 8x10 film (139 euro/25 sheets Adox) and then trowing away 30% of it.... After a box or 2 you have got the difference of the lens back if not faster. And I'm not very enthousiast...

Never thought there would be that much replies. Thanks for your input.

    6 1/2 x 8 1/2 cameras?

    Is this a viable format?

I was looking for something larger than 4x5. For some reasons I don't feel that 5x7 would make a large difference. 8x10 would be the next logical step. But for 6.5x8.5 I...

Re: Fastest Speed of all 4x5/9x12 Sinar Norma

I mentioned it because I expected it to be less due to the possible movements of the camera being LF. With a TLR you expect it. And in a way if this were just 2 cameras then it would be there as...

Re: Modern Rise of the Field Folder View Camera.

  30. Re: Decent wide angle lens for Linhof Master. No range finder use

What is a wide angle for me might not be a wide angle for you. I feel the Fuji SWD 75mm isn't wide enough to be called a "wide". But I do like it. The Fuji CM-W 125mm is my most used lens however....

Re: Why does the ground glass lack four corners?

I would think they cut them to avoid the weakest point of the glass. A bump or pressure on the corner is the best way to crack glass. Also less sharp points during production, transport and repair.
  32. Re: Roll film and Digital fixed lens camera habits-expectations imported into view ca

That is something that is the other way round for me. With 35mm (at least with older lenses) there is a useful DOF marking on the barrel. Might not be perfect but at least there is something. I miss...
  33. Re: Roll film and Digital fixed lens camera habits-expectations imported into view ca

Well, you can always use a dark cloth on your phone... An lcd behaves just the same as a GG when lit by direct sunlight so the solution is similar.
  34. Re: Roll film and Digital fixed lens camera habits-expectations imported into view ca

I must say I do have problems with the view camera but they are mostly related to the ground glass/focusing and very slow iso 100 film. It is just so dim and a mess getting a good view or getting the...

    Re: How many film holders?

A multiple of 3 because 6 sheets is what goes into my Jobo 2509n. I mostly take 6 holder on a daytrip unless I'm sure there will be plenty of subjects.
