(Re)incarnation of Stone III AND/or Cosmic Explorer?
The 80mm SSXL is not a particularly good lens, and is far from “fancy” or “highly desirable”.
Yep; designed to go behind the front standard.
Guess you can lead a horse to water...
“ The whole set up is pretty solid...”
Not if you mount lenses directly onto the Sinar shutter. They’re not designed to be weight bearing.
Possibly/probably doesn’t have one.
My Korona has a number, but it’s an assembly number so the proprietary pieces were able to stay together throughout assembly.
S/Ns didn’t seem to be as...
For the sake of the database, here’s an 11,000,000 version on eBay:

7x17 is easier to scan on the ubiquitous Epsom scanners - two scans and stitch.
What do you need the f6.8 for? I ask as most LF lenses are not performing at their best at wide open.
I use the 355mm G Claron a lot. One thing that always surprises me is the brightness of the...
Thanks for the update.
Looking forward to reading updates.
Filters are a pain for the big 210mm’s.
I have 2 Polarisers for my 210mm SA, but have not seen any contrast filters available (127mm).
Would love a deep yellow or orange filter....
Is that you again, Stone III?
For the OP's design:
Is there any reason that the sides are timber? For portability, couldn't you have a skeletal design with fabric (infill) sides/back to reduce weight? I understand that the...
I used to mount the Pol filter behind the CF on my 72mm.
No issues as far as I could tell.
Both Lee and Cokin produce horrible colour casts for positives. Very difficult to correct.
Companies like Kase, Nisi and Breakthrough have left them in the dust with newer optical coatings.
When I had the same setup with a 90mm f5.6 (and the 72mm), I would simply Blutac the Grad in place.
Hi, also from Melbourne.
Can you use Black Heart Sassafras? Love the look of that stuff!
I know that it’s sourced in Tassie. I just don’t know its availability, its use for frames, nor its structural qualities for...
Like it floating!
Have a look at the insulated packs the food delivery bike riders use.
And the shots?

Have you considered using square section CF rod as ribbing?

Cut with a wet diamond saw. No dust issues. I’m rebuilding my 7x17 to have a lot of CF. Using a tile saw to cut the pieces. The blade has its own reservoir and dust isn’t an issue.
FWIW, I’m...
The actual Lee filters have been well and truely bettered lately.
Both Nisi and Breakthrough filters outperform them in terms of colour casting and sharpness, especially in terms of ND/Grads.

Grabbed my shovel to dig this one up from the archive....
Any updates on this one, Joseph? I can't access the website any more.
(I've recently got a large slab of CF ready to redo my 7x17" home...
Windscreen wiper arms.
Go to a wrecker.
Nobody is forcing you to click on the thread.
Mine’s in a Copal 3.
Thanks, Greg.
Some might argue, but this sort of “feet on the ground” information seems much more compelling than theoretical pontifications....
No idea, Randy. Mine’s reversed.
Haven’t mounted it yet, but might be a good substitute for my Nikkor 450mm that is a bit too close to my Claron 355mm on 7x17.
Perhaps the subject of a new...
Mansplaining to men. Interesting development of the concept.
Does your copy have the reversed lettering inside the barrel ring?
I had no idea that their coverage was so significant!
Pre-soak - 2 minutes/Empty/3 minutes.
I do this as I believe that there is a significant possibility of uneven development on the (long) 7x17 sheets if dry. The pre-soak is a slight buffer to the...
There is myriad translucent films that replace the need to grind. They come in varying grades of translucency, allowing you to choose the one that suits your needs.
This stuff also makes using...
If you’ve got access to woodworking equipment, camera backs aren’t difficult to make.
I have a table saw and a bench-mounted router. I watched some YouTube videos and then built an 8x10” and a...
Thanks, Mike. You’re spot on.
I really didn’t think it was a difficult concept to follow...
Standard Copal 3 fitting.
Mine fits fine
