I got some lantern slides, a few.
Some of them in my Laplander, MayDay and other collections. One is the multi view painted with 5 or 6 views long.
Here is one from the Laplanders

Nice story...thanks!
Impressive gal with her yoga and all. I'm fat and can hardly get off the ground.
I wrote to them and asked if they would scan it @ 800 dpi for me for $400. No reply.
I have lots of albumen and collotypes from Japan. About 50% are in the digital Archive. Can't afford to buy...
Had to bug out on NYC when corrosive virus hit back in March. I'm old and bad lungs. Can't go back even if I wanted to to with quarantine from my state. I gotta make due with online shows / piecemeal.
Thanks OP for the rundown. I wondered if there was a way to adjust for sharpness in scans. Too bad they can't do it in the software.

I can't afford to buy anything. To me it...
Always had a thing for Weegee. (along with many other photogs that have inspired me over the years such a Cartier-Bresson, Penn, Araki).) But Weegee was one of my favs.
(See the DVD on the NY...
I looked at most of your site. Consistently outstanding work. Some of the best I've seen here. You deserve to go far.
Good luck!
Nice if you had some photos from it. You would think this is some writers forum with the terrible reports from the field that have no illustrations. Every show I go to, I shoot it. I mean, you are...
Yes, Kodak was something in their day. But nostalgia only goes so far.
...and where is the GD film on Kodak's, DuPont's and Agfa's operation???
History lost?
You can say the same thing about photography...nothing magic there. Yet we know that one photo is not the same as another photo. Time will tell.
Ever eat a fuzzless peach that rots before it...
You have to wonder how they coated film in the old days. Here is Kodak's spooling operation...in the dark with infrared flash.
1945...
Yes, like that in other areas as well. Can't get young people interested. If they do get them, they don't stick.
Good luck with that. But we can always hope.
You can see why digital lacks the film look. The grain of film is organic and variable whereas pixels are not.
OK, thanks for all the feedback!
In that it would scan the film 3 times to get the highlights and shadows, then combine the scans? Or it could scan the film 3 times and spit out 3 different exposure scans that could be combined...
Yes, concur. Photogs copy ideas off each other all the time.
Too bad not more oral history and photos from meeting Weston. That is the crime...not plagiarism.
Just what it says
Concur...OP sounds like an overthinker.
If you must, carry a 5x7 pocket portfolio to show off your photos.
If it improves photo.
I don't.
But most of the old 5x7 - 8x10 contacts in my archive are 100%
Hard to go wrong with Peak, very nice Q loups for the most part.
I got a bunch of cheap, old Agfa 8x loups from the 1970's and a $$ Peak 15X. There are lots of nice loups out there. And some real crappers.
Very good...Thanks!
Good rundown....Thanks!
Has it been determined which method produces better results? Got any photos of the conservator's setups?
Current personal work is 100% digital
Early personal work 100% film, then digitized.
Archival work is 99% film, then digitized.
Alcohol wipes and Kimtech then an air blow.
Have used all types of systems. BW filters seem very troublesome to clean. Prefer cheap Tiffen, just because they clean better. I guess the good glass...
BTW, I use old 8x Agfa loupes. Not the best, but very doable. Have 5 or 6 of them in various bags and around house.
I lost some hi $$ loupes years ago in a flood and never replaced them.
Jeeeesus...they should be in a museum. Or at least take some good photos and description and put hi res copies on the Internet Archive.
Concur.
Have gone through dozens of loupes. Most of the garden variety inexpensive ones made nowadays are terrible. So much spherical abs. I just trash em. Back in the 70's you could get a useable...
No smart phone. I got a tablet and like perusing IG.
What are they exactly? Are they online? Lets see em.
That is impressive! I'm on a budget as well, but never got into trading much.
I buy mainly found photography and film. But once in a while I will buy something from a currently producing artist or photog.
I was very excited to buy a couple of wood block prints from an...
Don't know.
But, I think it is nice having a dedicated nude section. For those not interested in nudes they can avoid it. If it is a big deal maintaining a separate nude section, then mix it in...
My visions often morph from previous projects. Lately have been making videos. It all started with the first video Girls of Instagram and all the rest were offshoots.
