Along U.S. 60 in Kentucky (ca. late 80s). Tri-X, HC-110, V700 scan. I need to travel back through there and see if the barn is still there.

Thank you -- I appreciate that spreadsheet! I am prone to GAS, and if I had unlimited means, I'd get the Chamonix non-folder 4x5.

  10. Re: Likely Very Naive Question, sheet film then scan to produce a digital print.

What Sandy said a few posts ago. I use a view camera and then scan the negs. I also make contact prints in my darkroom. I just like working with a view camera because I like the pace and the thought...

    Re: Intredpid cameras

I know -- I'm not complaining. I was just responding to the poster who was able to fold his 150mm lens into his Wista. I'm sticking with my Wista. I was just intrigued by the Intrepid camera and the...

    Re: Intredpid cameras

Bob -- it's a small Caltar 210mm f6.8. I've tried to close the camera with it attached, but the front of the lens hits the bed of the camera.

    Intrepid cameras

Been reading last year's thread about communications problems with Intrepid, but was wondering how folks are getting on with their cameras? Stumbled on their website and am impressed with what I see....

    Adapter board question

Could any local machine shop worth its salt take the lens board from my Linhof Tech III 5x7 camera and turn it into an adapter board that would accept my smaller Wista boards? Where I live, they...

I posted this photo under "Old," but maybe it's better suited here, under "Americana." Shot this on U.S. 60 in Kentucky nearly 30 years ago. 4x5 Tri-X developed in HC110. V700 scan.
  22. How to tell if metol (in powder form) has gone bad

I have a jar of metol (powder) that I bought about three years ago to use in making D-23. Haven't mixed any D-23 recently, but when I looked at the jar of metol today, I noticed the color had...
  23. Re: Justify the acquiring of a new Linhof Technika?

I agree, Mike. I have a Wista DX in rosewood that I like, but Ebonys really call to me. But like you say, you can't beat the engineering and precision of a Linhof.
  24. Re: Justify the acquiring of a new Linhof Technika?

Greg, I share your admiration for Linhofs. I have a 5x7 Tech III. It's not much to look at (I stripped all the old, peeling leatherette off and haven't yet replaced it), but it's built like a tank...

  28. How do you post photos so they don't show up first as thumbnails

Just curious -- How do you upload a photo at a larger size so that it doesn't show up first as a thumbnail that must be clicked on to enlarge? Some of the forum members' work comes in as thumbnails,...

    Here's one I shot along U.S. 60 near Lexington, Va. I think it's a Sunbeam automobile. 4x5 Tri-X in HC-110. I think I was using my 90mm lens.

    On U.S. 60 near Cave Run, Kentucky, if I remember right. Shot in '88 or '89. Tri-X in HC-110. I think I used a Calumet monorail with a Nikkor 90mm f8 lens.
  34. Re: Scanner, enlarger, or contact printer? Which one and why???

My 2 cents on scanning: I bought a second-hand V700 to scan my large format negs and have been very happy with the results. This is probably a testament to my lack of darkroom printing skills, but...

Re: Tripod Suitable for Linhof 5x7

I use an old Manfrotto (Bogen?) 3221 with a 3047 head for my Tech III 5x7. I think it's just about maxed out with that camera, but I've not had any problems yet.
