An anecdote about the rear swing: mine, once locked together, focuses with either knob without swinging the back one way or another. I can't think of a time I've used rear swing, so I haven't thought...

    Thank you Francis and fotopfw.

The light is nice in the late afternoon when the sun goes behind the ridge. If it's bright out, the open sky lights the forest from above and gives it a luminous...

Returned to this location after shooting an image here on my Widelux, posted in the small format thread. It's been a while since shooting LF...so I am a bit out of practice. Here's what I composed.

Might be that they copied the design between models. I have the Noblex 150U with rise and I thought I read that, about the notch, but I could be wrong.

Nice tuco! I thought the notch showed the extra bit when engaging front rise? The Widelux frame is not very accurate.

Oh I see, yes mine luckily works fairly well on that front. Sometimes it has a dark band here or there but if I exercise the swing a bit between each roll it works right on.

Thanks. The bowing is not obvious here because I'm level to the ground and there's no obvious straight lines. I like the effect personally in some cases but it's not due to damage or condition of the...

    Re: Photographing stars, 4x5

The moon fills the frame of my 36 x 24 mm camera with a 2000mm lens (telescope). So for 6x7 you need a 4500mm lens or so and on 4x5 an 8000mm lens.

Good luck, I hope you have deep pockets and a...

I think obviously a tophat lensboard for such a lens is an even worse idea.

50 sheets of this "Hyper" 5x7 is $255

Ilford Delta 100 box of 100 sheets is $233, over half the price.

Seems like a bad choice unless the intention is shooting ortho, I guess. Ilford has Ortho...

Buy literally any 90mm f/8 lens in modern all-black Copal 0 shutter and you'll be fine (or f/6.8 if it's a Rodenstock). Or an f/5.6 or f/4.5 if you absolutely think you need more light for focusing,...
