  1. Re: Which would be easier to build - 8x10 SLR or TLR?

Some form of motor drive and/or multi-film-holder interchange device will be handy. Will it be Autofocus?

Re: Front element chip: How bad is this?

Isn't the idea with a lens like that to make blurry or low contrast pictures anyway?
  3. Re: Experience in printing from 4x5 and 8x10 on paper 95x120 cm

Thank you for sharing. Since you are on a forum with perhaps the largest group of large format photographers with large format enlargers, do you mind answering some technical questions?

I disassembled, cleaned, lubricated and re-painted a used Saunders 20x24. These really are built better than the smaller Saunders easels.

I have had good success replacing the sockets. If there is poor contact, the Triac keeps ramping up the voltage, until it makes good contact and blows the lamp.

"Push Processing" B&W film only increases contrast. Do you want to make high-contrast portraits?

    Re: Current 4x5 enlarger options

Plan on a day's drive somewhere. The nice thing about 4x5 enlargers is the small size. I picked up both of my 4x5's with a BMW 3 series and then my wife's Camry. Bring some tools. Omega and Beseler...

    Re: 300mm lens 4x5" landscape

2 stop less, so the lens is an f11 300mm. Still with 300mm FL, so not a telephoto, even though they call it a "Teleconverter."

My 150mm Topcor with 2x focal length converter is pretty light and small compared to the 300mm 5.6 I use on my 8x10 camera.
