    Re: Prototype RF-coupled 4x5 camera

If realized, this would be an RF-*coupled*, interchangeable lens handheld camera. The examples listed are much bulkier or not coupled. The Razzy and Chamonix Polaroid conversions are kind of close in...

    Re: Prototype RF-coupled 4x5 camera

What are the existing options? The various Polaroid conversions? I had a Chamonix Saber equivalent and another Chinese cottage craft product that I enjoyed but didn't work out so well in the end. RF...

    Re: Prototype RF-coupled 4x5 camera

The holder design confuses me too. It doesn't seem to use septums or a dark slide.

    Re: Prototype RF-coupled 4x5 camera

Surely I don't mean the technologies are ambitious. I mean it seems ambitious for an independent designer to bring them into production (and economical production at that), but I wish him all the...

    Prototype RF-coupled 4x5 camera

I don't believe it's been mentioned here but apologies if so:

    http://www.aubreykingston.com/lfc-home

Very beautiful design by a Bay Area designer. I do hope it makes it to production someday,...
  6. Re: Flip aperture lever 180 degrees on a Copal shutter

To be very clear, I like the ergonomics of the cocking lever and the shutter release "upside down," but I like the ergonomics of the aperture lever right-side up.

    With the shutter "upside down,"...
  7. Re: Flip aperture lever 180 degrees on a Copal shutter

Thanks. It's just a generic Copal #0 shutter of the latest model.

However, based on photos I've seen of disassembled Copals, it seems the aperture mechanism sits behind a host of other parts and...
  8. Flip aperture lever 180 degrees on a Copal shutter

    Hello,

Is there an easy way to flip (more precisely rotate) the aperture lever of a Copal shutter by 180 degrees, such that it goes to the "bottom" of the shutter, on the opposite side of the...
  9. Re: Cannot unmount front element from Sinar CMV Mount

Thanks Jac. No screws visible from the outside.

I've opened up the shutter and also don't see any screws keeping the front element in place.

Attaching a couple of photos in case they help....
  10. Re: Cannot unmount front element from Sinar CMV Mount

Thanks for replying Jim. Not yet. I've only used a rubber lid gripper. I wrote "rubber wrench" but it's really a lid gripper. A rubber wrench would be stronger I think.

    I am willing to try...
  11. Cannot unmount front element from Sinar CMV Mount

I picked up a lens in Sinar CMV mount and am trying to remount it to a Copal.

But the front element is stuck in place. A rubber wrench is no help.

Does anyone know if there's glue or some kind...

Re: Seeking Advice for 4x5 Handheld Camera

I was on a similar quest recently and ended up with a used copy of the Chinese 4x5 rangefinder "Sky Bow" with a 120 Apo-Symmar. I've been using it with Grafmatic backs for handheld street...

So what is the weight of a Chamonix wood/carbon fiber 4x5 film holder with film loaded?

Re: "Sky Bow" -- Chinese 4x5 rangefinder

I think the "Cosmic Circle" options you're referring to (the subject of this thread) have been available on Taobao in China for a while. 58mm and 65mm go straight on. Above 65mm you use a helicoid.

Re: "Sky Bow" -- Chinese 4x5 rangefinder

The Sky Bow is entirely a new construction except...

Re: "Sky Bow" -- Chinese 4x5 rangefinder

Focusing indeed is done by directly pushing and pulling the front standard. Once in focus you release with your left index...

Re: "Sky Bow" -- Chinese 4x5 rangefinder

There was even an 8x10 version (2.2kg body only) planned but never produced.
