  1. Re: "By Request of Mark Osterman in Memorium of Ron Mowrey"

A wonderful contributor to the photographic world, always generous with his knowledge. He will be sorely missed not only by those who knew him, but also by those of us who knew of him.

Re: Need help printing Carestream EB/RA

I expose this film at EI 100 with White lightnings, develop in Pyrocat HD and get nice full range negatives. I believe you are overexposing by 2 stops.

    Re: Chamonix 5x12" camera

There is no greater pleasure for me in photography than seeing a nice big image on the ground glass, and the resulting print.
  5. Re: Chamonix 5x12" camera, with options is a reality

The one complaint I have about my Korona is the 3x5" lensboard. The 6x6 on the Chamonix is a terrific idea.

    Re: Chamonix 5x12" camera

I use both FP4+ and x-ray film in my Korona. I still miss my Korona 7x17, but at 91 it is too much for me to handle.
The X-ray film is double sided dental film which I don't have to cut down.

I built my sink of plywood in 1989 and coated it with 3 coats of West SYstems Epoxy. No leaks yet.
  8. Re: Use of X-ray film: technical discussion with example images

Re: Rollei Ortho plus 25 - reciprocity

reciprocity with ortho films is heavily dependent on the %age of red in the spectrum of the light being used. If you are thinking of using incandescent light sources for your "low light" exposures,...
  10. Re: Use of X-ray film: technical discussion with example images

I prefer a slick bottomed tray w/o ridges. Never a scratch with these.
  11. Re: Fumbling towards a correct exposure for Dry Plates

AS it says on the front of the box, the plates are orthochromatic. In other words, they are most sensitive to blue light and basically insensitive to red. In the middle of the day , from about 2...

I get better clearing if the 1st soak after development is in slightly acidified water. My preferred acid for this is a teaspoon of citric acid in 1/2 liter of tap water.

If the Korona is in good condition and all movements lock down tight, it will do the job. My wife used to use one with my 12 " Velostigmat, and a projection Petzval.
