Kumar - that sheet is a great resource, but unfortunately it was never updated to include the SS-XL series.

Re: Best Wide Angle for Horseman 45HD

Per Horseman, in order to fit the opening in the front standard the diameter of the rear cell must not exceed 65mm. Per Schneider, the maximum diameter of the rear cell of the 80mm SS-XL is 43mm, so...

Thanks for the clarifications, and apologies to Peter for reading too quickly and missing the point the first time he posted it. Yes, that lower link is broken. Thanks for the heads-up.
  5. Re: PSA: Link to forum on homepage is broken.

For me it goes to "https://www.largeformatphotography.info/forum" and works fine. Try clearing your browser cache and see whether that helps.

    Re: Please help ID

Here is the (very limited) description from the Beseler website as of 2007:

Thanks for the correction, Dan - confirmed this spec for the "Fielstand 45" in one of my Nippon Camera Annuals. Should have checked there first - my bad for recalling wrongly that the Tachihara had...
  14. Re: Greetings I am a new member and a question about Sinaron Digital 1: 4.5 55 mm le

The image circle specification of 125mm is for f/8-11. It's possible that, like the 55 Apo-Grandagon, it would just cover 4x5 at f/22. But the flange-to-film distance problem is fundamental. I...

    Re: Please help ID

Yes, it's the light source from the Beseler 8x10 conversion kit that was offered for the 45V-XL and I believe the 45MX series enlargers as well.

  17. Re: How much detail is lost enlarging a 4x5 negative to 8X10

I did once do a comparison test between contact printing and 1:1 projection printing of a 4x5 negative. Once I did that, I hardly ever made an enlargement from 4x5 again. :)

  21. Re: How much detail is lost enlarging a 4x5 negative to 8X10

In principle, there is always some loss when you pass the information in the negative through another transfer stage. In practice, though, assuming a high-quality enlarging lens and good enlarging...
