  1. Re: 300mm Rodagon with Slight Edge Fungus

Might be more dangerous for the lens to put it in a vise than to use it as is. If the pressure is enough to hold the lens without slipping, it also is probably making the lens somewhat oval and the...
  2. Re: How to mount a Goerz Artar 10 3/4 inch in a shutter?

I had a 10 3/4” red dot Artar mounted in a #1 Copal shutter for many years and wish that I had kept it. The rear lens element was just big enough that I had to remove the rear element to take it off...
  3. Re: Nikkor-SW 75mm f / 4.5 on Chamonix 45F2

I have had a 75mm Nikkor SW f4.5 for a number of years and found it to be a very useful and extremely sharp lens. The image circle is 200 at f16 and I’m not sure if it improves stopping down more or...

Re: Seeking advice on 120mm lenses

I have not used the Schneider 120 mm SA, but I used to own an Apo Symmar 120mm / 5.6 and thought that it was one of the sharpest lenses that I owned. I only sold it because I carried it around and...
  5. Re: Getting Back To PMK - Want To Try Pre-Mixed But Is It Good?

Go for it. I mixed pmk from scratch until I got really tired of getting out the scales etc… So, I thought t would go the easy route and get the premeasured powder… better, but. Ok, time to try...

    Re: Which diameter filter

Hi Mario, I own this lens as well and I use it on 5x7 mostly and think that it is excellent although it is very heavy. That being said, if you are using this lens on 4x5 and don’t need the image...

    Re: Which diameter filter

If 82 mm is a wide angle lens and you need all of the lens coverage, then get 82 mm thin filters. If you don’t need all of the image circle then rethink your needs.

    Linhof film holder repair.

Hi folks. Anybody know if the springs on the end flaps for old style Linhof film holders can be replaced? I haven’t had a chance to take one apart as yet, I’m just looking for information. Thanks.
  10. Re: Wich spacer and retaining ring for Schneider 240 Symmar S f 5,6

Copal 3S is just a bit smaller than a Copal 3. The lens board shouldn’t be a problem, but anything with threads will not work. You can look up the size differences somewhere like the SK Grimes site...

Re: Mounting gels behind the lens, 4x5

Gels are fragile but I never figured that I’d be using the corners so I taped them to the LB or the bellows.

Re: Darkroom Sink Slope & Drain?

I used an 8 1/2 foot sink that I made for about 17 years. I used a drop of a little less than 1/16” figuring that water flows off of level. I had the drain in the back corner even though the plumbing...

  14. Re: Smarter material for ground glass shim?

I used paper cut into strips about a half inch long and stacked to the correct thickness. I measured with a micrometer to make sure that the total thickness was ok, stuck a dot of glue on each...

    Re: Lens F/Stop Scale Question

If a #0 Copal, then a 135mm f5.6 fits in it. If a convertible then the second scale would not start with f8 but something like f12.

    Re: Lens F/Stop Scale Question

To find the f stop diameter for a given focal length lens, you divide the focal length of your lens by the f stop that you want. You can measure the stop carefully from the front of the lens to come...

    Re: Lens F/Stop Scale Question

I think that you will find that the distance between the stops will be different on a scale that was made for a different focal length lens.

    Re: PC-420D stirring speed

I think that like everything else, they do wear out and the labs that use them probably work them pretty hard before replacing. If the unit has been dropped or banged around, Corning did tell me that...

  24. Re: Filter size of Carl Zeiss Jena Apo-Tessar 60cm F9?

  26. Re: LegacyPro EcoPro BW Film Developer - Have you used it? - Your thoughts

I would be another to say it works like xtol but doesn’t seem to have the same storage issues. I have been using it for several years with complete success.
  27. Re: Pentax digital spotmeter battery drain?

I have not noticed that the meter reads differently over time with a lithium battery …..but then again, maybe I should pay more attention.
  28. Re: Pentax digital spotmeter battery drain?

I have used my battery for so long that the spare was almost outdated. Then I worried that I wouldn’t be able to get another. So I bought two again…
  29. Re: Lightleak: from where + what to do?

I got these light leaks in two of my Hassy film backs, had um fixed and sold the camera. Bought a LF camera and never looked back.
  30. Re: There is a weird little screw on my Schneider SA XL 5,6/58

Either drill a small hole in the correct place on the board or take it off and put it in a zip lock bag for future use or not. That is all that it’s there for.
  31. Re: Help please! Mystery light leak - causes?

Sometimes you can get flare of that sort if you have a wide angle lens and a light source just outside the image area. Even with a MC lens.
  32. Re: Film Reciprocity Failure Compensation Factors For Films

  33. Re: How to keep film ending up wrong side of dark slide after exposing

I have had film of questionable origins that was cut just enough too small to be able to pop out from under the rails.
I don’t buy that film anymore.

  36. Re: Compur shutter with no threads at the back side?

It looks as if it is in fact a bayonet mount which will account for the tightness of the lens element. It could be that the bayonet “plate” is also used as a spacer for the rear element. if you can...
  37. Re: Film on a Plane: Check It or Carry-On?

Bad Airport machines are called 3D scanners.
  38. Re: Film on a Plane: Check It or Carry-On?

New machines will fog your film. Make sure that the airports you go to do not have them before you put the film through.
