I like how well you got the tonal separation in this image. Not always easy to do that.

Re: How about some infrared images

Great find Austin, wish I could find that kind of scenery here in Georgia.
  5. Re: Almost done with film drying cabinet rebuild

A clear lacquer sprayed on, then a light sanding to remove the raised grain and another coat will give a smooth surface that can be wiped down without shredding the paper towel. Lacquer dries fast...

Re: What to do with LittleJohn

The cold cathode back was probably for copying transparencies, though it would work in a limited fashion as an enlarger.

  10. Re: Intellifaucet D250 mixing valve opinions wtd

I only have the hot water to the sink unregulated. The several cold taps are run through the Intellifaucet. Piping was enough of a pain without adding more tees to the layout. As it is the check...
  11. Re: Intellifaucet D250 mixing valve opinions wtd

When I first installed mine I didnt have a check valve in line and found I had hot water backing into the cold side of the system if I shut the unit down with its valves open so I could use the water...

    Re: post your trees!

Another great way to immortalize a tree is to use the wood to make a keepsake item like furniture, woodturned bowls, carved pieces of artwork. Maybe even have a frame made from it for the picture.

Re: Images from my June 2022 Road Trip

I looked my cutter up. You probably wouldnt want to pay what its worth. Dick Blick has them on sale for $550, Amazon lists it for $750 and regular price is over a thousand. Wife thinks I should hang...

A Grafmatic will do that job for you. For a fact you would have to work hard to double expose a frame after cycling it.

  27. Re: Is it .27 or .30 when figuring out a focal length - Which one do you use?

That would depend on whether you are using the vertical or horizontal measure to compare by. 35mm is closer in aspect ratio to 5x7, 4x5 ratio would be clipping the sides. However I think the .27 may...

    Re: Butane for developer preservation

If you wanted to put up the money for a tank and regulator you could use nitrogen or argon from a welding supplier. A tank of nitrogen is pretty cheap to get refilled.
  31. Re: Epson v800 8x10 transparency vertical banding

This sounds like a feature that someone should build into the scanner driver, kind of like the IR scan to remove dust on many machines.
  32. Re: Color separation negatives - CMYK no digital?

If I remember right it is made from the CMY images stacked so just the areas common to all three is used. Also what is called undercolor subtraction can be implemented to reduce the color loading...
  33. Re: Epson v800 8x10 transparency vertical banding

I know astrophotographers do a darkframe shot used to subtract uneven pixel values from the images they shoot. Is this something that can be done with a scanner as well?
  34. Re: Light leak on a custom built 4x5 with a Schneider 47mm lens.

It still might be possible to get a light inside it and observe if any opening are present where they shouldnt be.
  35. Re: Light leak on a custom built 4x5 with a Schneider 47mm lens.

Do the light leak test with a flashlight inside the bellow from both directions. I wouldnt be surprised you find a pinhole.

  39. Re: Help with routing a centered through slot for 20x24 front standard

You can drill two holes at the ends of your slots then use a coping saw to remove the wood between and a wood rasp to clean up the cut when done.
