  1. Re: De Vere 5108, negative carrier and timer questions

Peter, DeVere is now manufactured new in China. I would think you could get a negative carrier there. See:

  2. Re: De Vere 5108, negative carrier and timer questions

Go for it, let us know how it works out! Me, I bought the one from KHB!
  3. Re: Hi everyone. Nice to meet you all. I have a few questions.

Ilford has a chart to use with their papers but the VCCE head is easier.
  4. Re: Hi everyone. Nice to meet you all. I have a few questions.

Ilford multigrade heads are great when they work. When they donít they make great paperweights. Do yourself a favor and get an LPL VCCE enlarger of the right format for your camera. Craigslist is a...

    Re: 8x10 Camera Musing

OK, the only 8x10 cameras I've owned have been Deardorff V8's. For architectural work, I used a Sinar F2 4x5 and still have 3 of them. That said, I do own a Sinar P 8x10, but have not used it. ...
  6. Re: De Vere 5108, negative carrier and timer questions

It’s the same adaptor. Works with any timer.
  7. Re: Are there alternatives for Schneider Super Angulon XL 210mm to cover 11x14"?

    Alternatives yes, cheap alternatives no.
  8. Re: De Vere 5108, negative carrier and timer questions

You can get the adapter for £ 35 from SHD which at the present exchange rate is under $45!
  9. Re: De Vere 5108, negative carrier and timer questions

Mine too with the dichroic head. L
  10. Re: De Vere 5108, negative carrier and timer questions

KHB sells the De Vere #3845 120V Timer Interface cable, which allows the use of various 120V enlarging timers with DeVere enlargers. The price is CA$240.00 or around $175 US. I use one with an RH...
  11. Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...

If you read the fine print, it says that the illuminated barrels are in FL 135,150,180 & 210. I guess the 240, 300 & 360 were in plain barrels. Since mine is in shutter, it's a mute point. Would...
  12. Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...

This is the only 240 Componon-S I own. I bought it for the Compur 3 shutter. Since it had an extra set of threads, I had a Lapla mounted on on the back end so I can use it on my enlarger. Not used...

Re: 210mm or 240mm for Portraits?

You should be able to find a 210 Geronar in a modern Copal 1 shutter easily and cheaply. You can also look for a Caltar E which is a Tessar design, again in a modern Copal 1. Don't pay over 2 bills...

You should be able to find either in a Copal 1.
  15. Re: Durst 138S - asking for detailed instructions

Pls post a photo of the enlarger once you have it together and let us know what you ended up doing. L
  16. Re: First Forey Into 8x10 Format/ Intrepid 8x10 Camera

You don't even need film, you can use enlarging paper in the holders and make paper negatives which will show you the coverage. L

No! That will only drive up the price of used Deardorff! Just keep using your Intrepids and complaining.

    Re: Intrepid 8x10 experiences?

I've got several 30 year plus Deardorffs that are still light tight. Matter of fact, I've never heard of a Deardorff that's been reasonably taken care of leaking. That is just unacceptable. L
  19. Re: Durst 138S - asking for detailed instructions

I've used white lithium grease. Also I would not re-tension the spring except as a last resort. L
  20. Re: Durst 138S - asking for detailed instructions

Did you tighten it? It falls out if you don’t tighten it!
  21. Re: Durst 138S - asking for detailed instructions

IC, the OP said she got it from England, so the bulb should be 220V, right? Will the wiring work for 120v or will she need to re-wire it?

  22. Re: Durst 138S - asking for detailed instructions

I downloaded these, most I already had. One of the manuals is for the older L-138, not the L-138S. You can tell the difference because the "S" has a squarish bellows without much taper and a...
  23. Re: Durst 138S - asking for detailed instructions

My SM-183 uses the same head, but a different base, so I'm not that familiar with the L-138S base. Sorry I can't be of more help. The problem with the spring is if you try to open the spring...

I hardly ever use a 150 lens, my standard is a 210 mm. When I need a shorter lens, it's usually a 120 mm or shorter and then I use a bag bellows. You already have a 75mm for wide shots. For...

  30. Re: SINAR Architectural Photography Creative Large Format

I store mine horizontal. No issues with the springs.
  34. Re: Choosing a film camera for the future... (35mm vs 4x5!)

If you can swing it, I'd get both if the price is right. That way, you can try both for an extended period of time and either keep both, or get rid of the one you don't like.

    Good Luck!

Looks like it's shot. Usually happens from trying to raise or lower above the stop, or forcing it. These gears have a single hole for a through pin; may be necessary to drill a second hole in it. ...
