  1. Re: Which State is the Best State for Landscape Photographers to Live?

Maybe grand vistas are not so prevalent in some areas but just about anywhere has the potential for great landscape photography. It is up to the photographer
to make the compelling image. Now as...

What is missing in these discussions is "the plane of the back relative to the subject."
  7. Re: Any thoughts on why my film washer is not working?

Try decreasing the diameter of the bend in the tubing and see if that helps. If it flattens out it will only help.

    Re: Rangefinder Cameras

What Bob said plus Crown Graphic or Busch Pressman. The Kalart side rangefinders allow you adjust them to work with any one lens from around a 90 to 210 or so.
  9. Re: Any thoughts on why my film washer is not working?

The hose diameter is too large. First use a smaller diameter hose. Be sure it is as long below the container as possible to increase the drain flow so that it will drain faster than the water...

Re: Xtol - Distilled vs Filtered water

I have a cabinet sized distiller and have been using water from that for all cooking, drinking and developing for at least 20 years. Walmart's price is very good however.
  15. Re: Using Center ND filters on the back of LF lenses a viable option?

Focus shift will have a far greater effect on a 90mm wide angle lens on 4x5 than on a 500mm lens on 35mm film -- sad to say.

  17. Re: Camera Selection: Tachihara, Toyo 45Aii or xxxxxx?

I agree. Have a Bush Pressman (with a working rangefinder) and a Sinar F2. And use the camera that suits the purpose. A homemade adapter allows the Bush Pressman lens boards to fit on the Sinar.
  18. Re: Which of my 5 LF lenses are worth keeping or worth upgrading?

A upgrade in coverage but not necessarily in performance would be to change the Sinar 90/8 to a Nikon 90/8.

Otherwise, any improvement by upgrading to Apo would not be worth the trouble/cost IMO.

Re: Rethinking my 4x5 Field Camera choice

Yes, sensible idea. However, it is not so easy when you interchange lenses with a miniature Crown Graphic, Bush Pressman, Horseman 80mm boards and a Sinar.

Re: Thoughts About Linhof 4x5 Technikardan 45s ?

I have never even seen one but from what I have read over the years - be very careful when folding the camera. Go slow and LEARN how to fold it to avoid damage. It is a top of the line camera.
