    Are you sliding the holder all the way under the ground glass. The light leak and lack of exposed area could be explained if the film holder were not inserted all the way.

    Seriously, I believe many issues with uneven development (uneven sky etc.) are from developer exhaustion. What I do is err on the side of 20% to 50% capacity...

    According to your first post, 1 liter of 1:1 will only process two 8x10 negatives. You would not need to change your time at all for each two sheets processed.

    There is no standard, but some heads use (CC = log d x 100). So 10cc = 0.1 log d or 1/3 stop, 15cc = 1/2 stop, etc.

    Have you considered horizontal? No counterweight or baseboard; wheels and simple track.

    Column mounting the head, compared to a wall mount, would not change the maximum size of print. In fact, maximum print size would be smaller, because the height of the column's feet above the floor....

    I compare the slope of the first 11 points after 0.1 log d to a 'known' film for which I already have a development time for most scenes. Then tweak the development time as needed for the unknown...

    There is a simple 'logic' relay (black rectangle) and two micro-switches and a cam that control the opening and closing movement. I my case, the shutter jammed (enlarger was in a community darkroom)...
