My guess would be scuffs in the pre soak before developer. Do you know how they process the sheet film? If you look at the emulsion side can you see the offending line as a somewhat raised area?

The old kodak powdered fixer is one but you can buy the ingredients at the formulary and mix yourself, not too difficult at all. Also pool supply stores may carry the thiosulfate.

If it's an ammonium thiosulfate fixer that may well be the cause. I had similar issues plus nausea and switching to plain fixer, sodium thiosulfate for any open tray work made a big difference.

Great info Matt, I'm just on the fence betn the harrison and the Chinese, wondering if they're worth the extra 150 or not. I'll just flip a coin. 150 doesn't buy you as much 717 film as it used to.
