  1. Re: The Problem with Modern Lenses.. transfered to those new to view camera image mak

I suspect there's some confusion in communication here.

    Re: Terminology Question

The intended meaning is likely "high contrast". If the ambient lighting is outside of one's control and one does not want a harsh rendering, "hard" lighting is typically tamed by exposing generously...

Simple post count. But endurance combined with moderation (no pun intended, though Neil has of course contributed in that way too) makes for a nice balance.

    Re: Newton's Rings

This. TMX, especially, has a very smooth emulsion side compared to other films, so an AN top glass doesn't completely solve the problem.
  9. Re: Focus Stacking with 8x10 Large Format Film...Ben Horne

OK, as will be obvious to those logged in, I've deleted a whole bunch of bickering and negativity-for-the-sake-of-negativity and reactions to it all - some of it having to do with stacking and some...

  11. Re: Thinking of buying an Omega B-8 enlarger

The B-8 is of course a 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 enlarger, not 4x5. So you should ask some probing questions about what the "conversion" actually is.
  12. Re: processing 20x24 film in a 3063 Jobo drum

What developer are you using with the B&W film? There have been reports of trouble with pyro developers in the 3062/3063 drums when used without the special inserts that Jobo used to offer. With...

  15. Re: Grandagon vs. Grandagon-N vs. Nikkor lenses. A light fall-off question.

IIRC the Apo-Grandagons are all in shorter focal lengths (55 mm or less) that were never offered as plain Grandagons.
  16. Re: Large Format Conference / University of New Mexico

Tracy Storer here probably knows about that - I don't recall the exact timing of his early involvement with the Polaroid 20x24, but he may well have been there.
  17. Re: Should Kodak/Fuji rethink color sheet film for room temp processing?

  21. Re: Does a new luxury 8x10 camera make sense in 2021?

What Drew said. Before you draw conclusions about inkjet, try some glossy papers. They still won't look like a screen, but they might provide enough of the brilliance you're looking for.

Re: Quitting Flickr Soon for imgbb

The Imgbb website says nothing about who's behind it.

A quick web search reveals... nothing.

So for now, all I know about them is that they are unwilling to reveal who they are.

  35. Re: I would like to learn how to do macrophotography with my 8X10.

    OK, so for completeness: the Apo-Macro-Sironars are 120 and 180, the Macro-Sironar-N's are 210 and 300. The Nikkor AM's are 120 and 210. And the Makro-Symmar HM's are 80, 120 and 180. The macros...

  40. Re: What is the fancy name for C-41 and RA4 processed prints.

Both C-41 and RA-4 are chromogenic processes. Museums and galleries often label the prints as "chromogenic prints".
