    Re: Digital IR

    Ari,

That's certainly a very strong IR effect, stronger than what my R72 filter gives.

I opened the image in Photoshop, duplicated the layer, and applied adjustment/shadows hghlights, playing...

    Re: Digital IR

    Jon,

I use a lot of lenses, including manual focus ones. Right now, I'm leaning towards getting a new main camera and having my D600 converted to 720nm. I can probably afford a new...

That's kind of you to say, Jon, and thank you for the links. I've been mainly shooting at f/8. I'll have to try shooting more wide open.

This is what I've been doing, which is not to say it's a...

Re: A Tripod Setup for Tight Spaces

A lot of professional movie/video equipment can be very useful for still photographers, and browsing through grip catalogues can give one a lot of ideas. Many of the most useful things aren't very...

Thanks, Guys. I don't think that house is lived in. It's in the front yard of a much newer (and lived in) house. The people there are basically using the old house as a lawn ornament.

    Yep. Got that. :)
  20. Re: Interesting Alternative to a Tripod, Especially for Rough Ground

In the studio, I use a Junior rolling stand as a cheap alternative to a camera stand. It worked fine for lighter cameras.

    Re: Sinar Alpina/A1 mounting block

Oh, that shouldn't be too hard. Some have slots. Also, some have lips. If it's the right size, the lip will ride against the rail, and it wouldn't spin. That's what I do with my Intrepid 8x10.

    Re: Sinar Alpina/A1 mounting block

Nope. If I had an Alpina/A1 today, I'd probably fit an Arca compatible plate on it. I've never gotten along with Bogen/manfrotto hex plates.

    Re: Kami Fluid alternatives?

Doing anything with your film can lead to damage. If you need to wet mount, then I'd use an appropriate cleaner afterwards, such as Kami film cleaner, being very careful to use a good system with...

Re: Sinar F2 Vs Sinar Norma (4x5)

I'd decide based on condition and included accessories. Having bought my first Sinar in 1992, I agree with Bernice. I currently have an Intrepid 8x10 and a Sinar P2 system. I'd much rather use...

    Re: Neutral Density filter advice?

Polyester filters are very thin. When new, they give excellent quality. But they inevitably get scratched, and that will eventually impact quality.

    Re: Neutral Density filter advice?

Making a clamping style adapter wouldn't be too hard. Another option is putting a holder behind the lens, i.e. inside the bellows...there use to be a manufactured one....the Xenophan filter holder....
