Beautiful tonality in your foma 100 shots.
^ That’s beautiful!
I am a darkroom newbie so take anything I say with a grain of salt…
So far, I like the look. It is high comtrast, so I have to be ready to pull it out of Amidol quickly otherwise I end up with super...
Are you asking about shipping or Lupex? :)
I ordered 8x10 Lupex earlier this year and it showed up after 3-4 weeks. A couple of months ago I re-ordered some more 8x10 Lupex and still not received.
I wish they shipped via another service and...
I am sorry to hear that and I hope you have a speedy and full recovery.
As a large-format newbie, I appreciate your contributions and always pay attention when you have something to say.
I purchased a Stenopeika Leonardo camera as my first 8x10. It took some time to get it but I like the camera. I like the way I can control view camera movements. The rail focusing mechanism is quite...
Based on my comparisons/observations, some of the exposure apps on a phone are quite accurate and provide very close readings to what a Sekonic does. Plus Portra has quite good exposure latitude, so...
Thank you, Ben.
A few weeks ago:

It seems Cooke PS945 covers 8x10 - at least at a close distance.
This shot with Stenopeika Leonardo at f4.5, FP4 10 minutes in DD-X, rudimentary scan with my phone:...
Doremus, Brian, Drew, Bob, Kent, Thomas, and Alan
Thank you again for your very helpful responses.
Much appreciated!
I should most probably use the manufacturer's recommendations but just as an...
Thanks for all the advice and input.
I'll probably run some tests by exposing sheets using the manufacturer's specified compensation factor vs the metered compensation factor, just for my peace of...
Alan, I would like to trust both the film manufacturer's recommendations and the filter manufacturer's recommendations.
But as Sal said "test test test" and that's what I have been doing with...
Thanks, Mark
I have actually taken readings in daylight and the difference in EV values is ~0.6 for Yellow and ~1.1 for Orange filter.
For instance, on a sunny day, I take a reading off a puffy...
Thanks, Paul.
I usually trust whatever the manufacturer specs say, and will probably just use the compensation factors per specs, but I am definitely confused by the EV readings.
I mean I trust...
I have a simple (or perhaps not so simple) question. I've purchased Heliopan Yellow #8, Orange #22, and Red #25 filters. According to the specs, Yellow has a compensation factor of 1.5 stops, Orange...
Since SP-810 trays are convenient for me, I really wanted to see if I could get evenly processed sheets in them with reduced agitation. So I did my experiment with 4 sheets again. First N development...
Someone else experienced the exact same squigly/swirl marks with Pyrocat-HD in SP-810:...
Greg, I read several threads, including the one you linked, before buying SP-810 trays. I have developed a few sheets in Perceptol and all of them have come out looking pretty clean and even. But a...
Thanks, Jim, for sharing your experience with developing in tubes. I will try that myself.
I contacted Steve Sherman and he was very kind to offer some input. He suggested that streaks/swirls are most likely caused by bromide buildup or Bromide Drag which can happen with reduced agitation,...
Hi Michael, I might have read somewhere about the vertical orientation thing you mention. It's a shame, if I can't use trays for semi-stand, the SP-810 trays have been working well for my needs. I...
Hi Philip
Yes, swirl marks are on the negatives. Not due to taking the photo with my phone. I do not have a scanner.
I took my camera into a dark room at night and inserted a film holder and...
And for completeness, here is the DD-X (Right) sheet next to Perceptol (Left):
Between these two I prefer Perceptol. It appears to have more detail.
...
So, I continued with my plan and developed the remaining 2 sheets also. The third one in Ilfosol DD-X (1+4 at 68 F 10 minutes) and the last one in Pyrocat-HD (1.5 : 1 :150 at 68 F 48 minutes) Extreme...
All good points and suggestions. I will try to follow this advice. Thanks!
Darkslide was actually in my hand. I don't leave it inserted because I want to flip it after taking the shot to indicate the sheet has been exposed.
It's Luland LD115. It's similar to Ries A200. The reason I got it instead of Ries is that it came with a custom fast plate, to attach to the camera base with 3 screws.
I posted info in this thread:...
The only movement I employed was the forward tilt of the rear standard, to get the figurines in focus from top to bottom. I think I was too concerned about the faces and bodies and perhaps failed to...
Thanks, everyone for your input. I will probably do another different experiment. And will still do my 4-way comparison as originally intended.
I am a newbie and making mistakes is part of the...
Negatives were in a sleeve, so the right side is the fold of the sleeve. We can ignore that.
I just noticed the differences on the bottom left and left edge, which are not present (or as clearly...
There is a light leak I am dealing with, notice the tape at the bottom of the rear standard in my setup photo, but I thought I am just experimenting and any effects of light leaks would be evident in...
That's an interesting observation ... yeah it could acttually be the shadows from the figurines, which perhaps have more contrast in the Pyrocat-hd sheet. In such case the that would mean it is...
Thanks. I actually read that thread last night before falling asleep. It talks mostly about semi-stand butt perhaps there are some bits that apply to normal development also. I will read it again....
For context, here is the setup of this 4-sheet experiment:

To test developers, I exposed four identical 8x10 sheets of FP4 and developed two of the sheets. The one on left in Pyrocat-hd (1:1:100 at ~68...
Thanks for this recommendation. I bought the Torvol Adventure backpack based on your post and it fits my 8x10 plus 4 film holders plus lenses quite nicely.
I am the original poster.
So, I finally got my camera and started with some testing. I am using FP4.
So far I have developed 2 sheets in Ilford DD-X and 2 sheets in Ilford Perceptol in SP-810...
