Currently I use a FLM tripod with a Ries head and a 100mm bowl. Handles my 11x14 camera with ease.

Yes you can try to use one tripod AND a light weight CF monopod to support the front.
  6. Re: Why some lenses have a "haze" on GG and some look clear?

You use lens serial numbers to check its production year. Usually lenses made after WWII are coated. Some uncoated lenses produce more flare/haze due to their design. My uncoated Zeiss-Dagor have no...
  7. Re: Why some lenses have a "haze" on GG and some look clear?

I have a theory: that white haze on your ground glass is probably flare caused by uncoated lenses. I tested two lenses the other day, same lens but one is uncoated and the other coated, and found the...

    Scott,

Let me try to answer some of your questions.

Yes you can use Chamonix wet plate holders for both dry and wet plates as long as their thickness is not over 3mm.

  28. Re: Schneider Corp. of America (Kern) Gold Dot Dagor 14" f/8 (355/8)

That lens is good one for 8x10. You will have soft corners for 11x14 if you shoot at infinity. I found this out on a trip with my 11x14 camera a few years ago. Incredibly sharp where it covers. I use...

    What I don't get is

    Super-XX at f/16 like this: f/8 32 seconds, f/16 8 seconds, f/22 2 seconds, and f/64 1/2 second.

I thought smaller aperture need more time.
