Re: Which 360mm lens has the largest image circle

If money is no object, I'll wager Harrison made a 14" Globe lens.

    Re: Goerz Dagor and fungus?

Make sure the fungus is on one of the outer surfaces, not a degradation of the balsam glue. Each element has 2 outer surfaces and 4 inner (3 elements in 1 group, so 4 internal glass faces). ...

Re: Dissassembly of an Antique Brass Lens

If there's no glass then heat the whole thing in the oven to loosen any old grease or threadlocker.
  4. Re: Goerz Doppel-Anastigmat Series III No. 1 Question

DAGOR = Doppel Anastigmat Goerz Optical R(?) - I forget what the R stood for. In German, of course.

Re: What's With the Rodinal? Can't Find Any

I bought 5 bottles of a no-name copy off a dealer 2 years ago. Don't expect to run out any time soon.

Re: Do you get sentimental about your lenses?

Not sure if sentimental is the right word. I have from time to time sold lenses I use regularly because someone paid my asking price, and then regretted not having the lens when its replacement...
  7. Re: Goerz Doppel-Anastigmat Series III No. 1 Question

This lens in this focus mount was common on the Goerz Anschutz press cameras.

    Re: Luc shutter issues

Assuming you've tried with a long-throw cable release, I think your shutter may have excessive wear. There must be some slop in the pins at the edge of the blades, or else someone has assembled it...
  9. Re: Schneider Angulon I Purchased - Is This a Problem?

Separation of the optical elements around the edge. Can be fixed but that looks like it's not in the optical path at shooting apertures so it should have no effect on images.
  10. Re: International Shipping Costs Seeem Outrageous, USPS, UPS, FEDEX, DHL?

I can't speak for USPS's insurance, but Canada Post insurance only covers loss, not breakage. And they won't sell you insurance for any country you might need it, ie anywhere parcels regularly get...

Re: What will happen to your negatives in "the end"?

    Sorry for your loss, linhofbiker.

Your circumstances bring up the crux of this matter, though. For most of us, whether our negs go in the bin when we die will depend on the sentimental...

    Re: Hello from Far Quebec

Welcome indeed. The drive north of Tadoussac is one of the most beautiful in the Province, and that's saying a lot. Great place for photography.

    Re: Uncertainty vs. Failure

As I get older, I find I'm losing all my fears. Fear of failure, fear of embarrassment and humiliation, fear of not accomplishing my goals, fear of disease and death... Whatever happens happens,...

Re: Must your image be technical perfect ?

    Re: 180mm for Portraiture

My 300 Congo is one of my favorite lenses. I understand they fit in a standard shutter but I've always used with either a Packard or a LUC shutter.

Classic portrait lenses for 4x5, readily available in decent if antique shutters:

    Re: Fujinon 300mm & 360mm W puzzle

I originally bought my 250/6.7 with the understanding that it would cover 11x14. Never tried because I quickly sold the 11x14 when I realized I couldn't carry it into the field. But the image...
  22. Re: 4x5 Portrait lens recommendation with "classic" look and feel

If you can fit an older dial-set Compur shutter, the ideal lens (for my portrait needs) is the quite affordable uncoated 210 Xenar.

    Re: Any Lenses for 14 X 36"?

I think you already have your ideal lenses, a pinhole and the Wollaston meniscus, but Goerz did make the early Double Anastigmat Ser. III up to 35" focal length (later 16.5" as the Dagor). I've...

    Re: 4x4 filter on 360mm Symmar-S?

It occurs to me that I'm going to have the same problem when I get around to trying mine that I bought last winter. I'm thinking I can either 3d-print an adapter for the 100mm square filters, or...
  26. Re: Filter size and thread pitch for Schneider Xenar 150mm f/3.5

I can't answer your question directly. However, 40.5mm filters do exist, and the threads on filters are tapered. A standard filter should screw on by a couple of turns and hold in place, in a...

  29. Re: What’s your most “unpopular” opinion about LF?

This has been my view on lenses especially for some years. We do not own these lenses, we are merely caretakers and we need to diligently preserve them for posterity. I also think we should pass...
  30. Re: What’s your most “unpopular” opinion about LF?

  33. Re: which Spot lightmeter for field use (dead Spotmeter V) ?

  35. Re: 8 x 10 Field Camera with the largest amount of front "fall"?
